Hi, I'm compiling a book and I'm asking if you could post this on your forum
as I want to contact the heart of your club's supporters, and it should also
promote some healthy debate.
FOOTBALL'S LOAN LEGENDS
GJB Publishing is compiling a book called "Football's Loan Legends", and
we're looking for your nominations for your club's top 3.
We're looking for the players who were inspirational in their time at your
club on loan, or one who gave 110%, or made an impact for whatever reason,
and even those who maybe even achieved cult hero status. They can be players
who eventually signed permanently for your club, but we're interested in
their initial loan period.
We are asking that you vote for your top 3 and then send us any information,
stories, reasons for your nominations, any newspaper cuttings, and details
of when they played, how many games etc. All contributors will be fully
acknowledged.
We are approaching all football league clubs to compile a definitive guide
of the best loan players in football, and the book will be available
nationwide by mail order later this year.
Many thanks for your time.

Moped and I were talking about JR's record regarding loan signings today.
We agreed so far we have not been that impressed. Our view was that Matt Elliott has probably been one of the best. Whats your view?

Agreed, only Mahon and Elliot have looked worth the money to me, I also agree about Unsworth being over reated. However, what concerns me most about Joe's loan signings record is who he hasn't got, as we never seem to be in the frame anymore when decent players become available.
Oh and Mark Fish

In my mind the best loan players I can think of or who made an impact are Jim Magilton - obviously now a legend and a great signing at the time. Martijn Reuser - cult status in his initial loan period and a fan favourite. After this I think Sixto Peralta was a good loan signing, Matt Elliot and Alan Mahon.
In recent years I couldn't think of anyone who had performed any better. Shefki was an okay player but he didn't hit the heights until last season when he was permanent in the squad.

Definitely Martijn Reuser! He had a massive impact during his loan spell and his goals ultimately got us some way to wembley by themselves and lets not forget his goal at Wembley itself - he lifted his top up to reveal "Rolls Reuser". I think he was the only player not to return to the dressing room - he seemed to just want to celebrate with the fans! Surely our best loan signing????!!!

1) Sixto Peralta (Would have been great if we could have signed him up).
2) Jamie Clapham ( Initially on loan, before signing, always thought he was decent purchase for us).
Other end of the scale though;
How about Micheal Clegg on loan from Man utd
