Haynes to lead the line ...

Post by Bluebird » Fri Jan 06, 2006 3:37 pm

Ipswich face Premiership side Portsmouth with teenager Danny Haynes their only fit striker.

Adam Proudlock is out with a knee knock, while manager Joe Royle has ruled out fellow forwards Nicky Forster and Dean Bowditch.

Leading scorer Sam Parkin is out until March with a broken ankle.

Skipper and midfielder Jim Magilton is the latest injury doubt with sciatica, while defender Sito Castro missed training on Thursday with a knock.

Centre-back Richard Naylor returns after serving a one-match ban and Kevin Horlock (midfield) came through a reserve game at Arsenal on Wednesday.
No new striker, mini mac cup tied, no pressure on Haynes then!

IMO they should put Naylor upfront with the lad, must be nerve racking for the lad to lead the line against premiership opposition at that age.

Haynes led by example yesterday...and will have a great future in the game. For one so young he "put himself about a bit"...and has IMO left Bowditch in his wake.

For all the Currie haters on here (BB !!) I know he was by and large crap and ineffective in his forward role yesterday...but you have to say he did try his hardest to chase and harry...but he was addmittedly a tad slow :D

Thats my cue, that was again, one of the worst performances ever in a town shirt. He is clearly not fit enough to play prosessional football at championship level. He is too slow, too weak, he avoids play and my granny could tackle harder! But Joe choose to take off Matt Richards who to be fair was playing well, that'll teach him!

Credit to the other lads for once again playing 10 v 11, well actually 9 v 11 cos Magic was slow and sh*te too.

Currie is slow - agreed, BUT that doesnt mean he's not "fit" enough !
tbh ...joe did what he could yesterday- given the available squad...and we nearly causeda few red faces in the "premiership" camp !!
