The Magic of the FA cup, is it still there for you?

I have just arrived home to see the last 20 minutes of the Luton v Liverpool game with the score balanced at 3-3, saw 2 further Liverpool goals, one from Xabi Alonso from his own half, after Luton, Keeper -et-al were caught up field. I was thinking " where else in the world could you witness such an amazing match". The match (from seeing the after match highlights) had it all, Dubious penalty decisions, some great goals, and another amazing Liverpool comeback! That was a great advert for this Magical cup competition! it still has that special appeal to me!

And dont forget the MIGHTY Torquay United, they gave brum a real run for their money and managed a 0-0 draw, even the brum fans said TUFC should of won!!

Heard one Brum fan on 606 say he hoped Bruce left his players behind and loaded the Torquay boys onto the bus for the trip back up north!!

i think its there more for non-league/lower league sides (league 1 and downwards) than it is for the premiership and championship, maybe because the smaller teams have that hope of getting a big club come to their pokey little corner of the country, but for the top two leagues you end with the chance of getting some utter crap coming to yours, unless Arsenal, Liverpool, Newcastle, Man Utd or Chelsea get drawn against you the intrest is less. another thing is leagues 1&2 have been playing since the first round and endurred some rubbish so the visit of Plymouth might be seen as a huge gaint killing chance.

cheers crazee, i bet birmingham city fans were thinking Torquay is a right pokey little hole yesterday
the FA cup is still very special to the lower league clubs, and to quite a few championship and prem clubs
it obviously meant a bit to the birmingham fans yesterday because they sold out their 1800 allocation in hours

yes and Birmingham can count themselves very lucky to still be in the draw for the next round!!
I think the FA cup is amazing, theres not another cup like it in the world!!
And crazee try saying it means more to lower leagues clubs than to prem clubs, to the likes of newcastle fans when shearer scored his 200th goal y/day to get them through!! It means just as much!!

Agreed, although people are not voting with their feet, p*ss poor crowds up and down the country. I wonder why we didn't do kids for a quid or something, bloody shame to see PR half full again

The magic of the FA Cup went when Man Utd pulled out of it a few years back, for me it's nothing like it used to be

the magic of the FA cup will only come back to ipswich, if we actully eventually make it past the 3rd round and have a lil run in the cup, and play a few big sides! untill then, people just wont turn out for it down at PR
