..here we go again ...seems like some fans (primarily on TWTD I hasten to add) are feeling that we cant have a good player cos he's only cost £100k.
Well all I can say is
...how much did we pay for Kuqi ?? - and look how he finished up playing for us !
....£3+ million dosent "guarantee goals " - ref Mr Ashton - who, IMHO has been "ordinary" at best , since he joined that bunch of misfits north of the boarder..and he hasnt exactly "progressed his career" with a £3m + transfer fee has he !
so donmt judge a book by it's cover as they dsay...lets wait anfd see what Lee can do - and dont expect it to "happen" over a couple of game seither - well I not anyway !

Def not, its impossible to get a striker who is banging the goals in at a decent level on the cheap, because obviously clubs dont give those sorta player away. But if we managed to say get Fuller on loan aswell thst 2 strikers that 2 or 3 years ago were banging in 20 goals a season at this level, so if you get the best outta Lee then 100k will seem like a bargain, 100k isn't a huge amount of money so it is a good buy IMO

agreed !...£100k is not even peanuts in todays game ...but then again you dont aleways get the end product if you pay mega bucks either !

He's got have a value, he's a bloody international. I'm hoping he's hungry, and finally we see Joe making a signing up front that really delivers something in the way of goals. I don't expect him to bang in 3 a match, but Parkin and Forster have just been a waste of our time and money; a goal every couple of matches would be a nice start.

Its hard to know if we're getting value for money, not sure how people can just assume...
If he scored 10 goals this season it'll be buy of the century, if he scores none it'll be 100K wasted, we'll have to wait and see.
TWTD posters are truely idiots. I go there sometimes just to lurk for a laugh, if I wanna talk about football I'll come here!

You say a goal every couple of matches. Isn't Parkin's record something similar? He's STILL our top goalscorer and will benefit from playing in a muchly improved, mobile midfield.
If fans of clubs got on the backs of players of their respective teams because they don't score every game we'd have a striker mutiny on our hands

So how can you say he's scored in 4 games out of 28 then
More negative spin to make it look like he's been an awful signing?!

Lets just remember it isn't all about goals. The fans at Portman Road got on Parkins back quickly, not because they're idiots, because Parking has not looked like he is that good - poor first touch, head makes contact with ball only 1 in 30 attempts, and his flick ons and possession play look very very poor compared to our other players.
I'm still hoping he turns out good, but lets not try to paint a picture where people have decided not to back him for no reason.

I'm sorry but how could he have looked good in the side we played at the start of the season? Forster constantly played 40 yards away from him so any flick ons or lay offs he did make were useless cos Forster was so far apart - not Parkin's fault.
He's said himself he's not a target man, Horlock, Magilton and the like all aimed for Parkin's head - again, not his fault.
And would you not get tense and nervous when in possession when you have 24,500 of your own fans getting on your back for doing nothing wrong?

Agreed, if people get behind him and the team plays like we did on Saturday, he'll be banging them in. Parkin is a good player, don't knock him, he's still our top scorer.

£100,000 is a waste of money for a Rotherham reject, which is what he is. Hope he proves me wrong, but I very much doubt it

Completly agree, IMO we have the big target man in Parkin. We need a little nippy player, Like Leon Knight. Ive got to say i was VERY dissapointed when Royle missed out on him. But for me it just prooves my theory about Royle being inept in the transfer market in general

Wrong - He's not a target man. He may be tall but he's clearly not a target man. Even by his own admission he prefers it to his feet. Would appear even Joe Royle thinks like you Luke.

I guess with our finances being as tight as they are it is simple!!
If he is a success then he would be a bargain - however we cannot afford to throw £5 at a failure - lets hope JR's judgement is good in Alan's case!!

told ya not to judge him on his 1st couple of performances, i take all that back, the guy was great today, even when completely knackered in the 2nd half he ran his fooking socks off and caused soton problems all afternoon

David Nugent cost Preston 100k.....wouldnt mind him playing for us! Hopefully he's convinced a few doubters...could be a flash in the pan, but at least he'll get a fair crack from the majority of fans after two good performances...physical..works hard...scores goals..HA Theo who!!!

Just seen the goals on Ipswich World, seems like a good, honest and solid striker to me.
