Have WHU called norwich's bluff ref Ashton fee ??

Post by hallamblue » Sun Jan 15, 2006 8:25 am

I heard that WHU have supposedly offered norwich's asking price of £7m - and that the norwich board are now considering whether to accept it or not.

Ashton will be one peed off bunny if they go back on their word - I suspect IF this offer is true it is the last thing Worthy or the Board wants..and in truth they may have thought a price tag of £7m was enough to put Clubs off.

£7m in the bank aint going to help norwich's play off hopes is it ?

Norwich with 7 million is 10 times more dangerous than Norwich with Ashton imo.

Agreed, they'll buy their way out of this divison, as will Southampton with £15m for Theo!

Aston is no way worth £7m, he is hardly setting the Championship a light!

Bent is a much better player and he went for around £2m - INSANE!!!!

But money talks... who would of ever wanted to go to Wigan, but Paul Jewell managed to pull in some good names with his endless mega bucks!

agreed money talks - Ive said it myse;lf . BUT £7m hardly equates to the money Wigan could throw around. Also Clubs will inflate their prices in order to keep their best players , should norwich go sniffing around.

lets be honest Ashton WAS the best striker in this division - until he went to norwich !! - WHO is better than him at this level - I hardly think any decent Prem player is going to want to drop down a division ?...Ashjton needs to get away from them in order to get his career back on track IMO

I think Norwich would be better off with £7 million than ashton, they could get 2 really good strikers for that which would get them into the play offs, They were recently linked with Cameron Jerome who is gonna be a hell of a player in years to come

its not a bad deal - initial lay out between 2 and 3 million, he hardly scores and they've been offered almost 5 million profit, its almost too good to turn down, can bet ur arse its based on appearences and paid in installments though

but money in the hand does not gaurentee they will get any half decent player - they dont pay the highest ewages by any stretch of the imagination ...and I do wonder whether they could really persuade a decent player to join them if some of the bigger clubs also get involved in the bidding war that may ensue !

they only got Ashton cos none of the Prem clubs were prepared at the time to take the risk !!

well, 7 Million could get you a couple of very good strikers a decent deffender and would properbly pay to get couple of very good loan signings for the rest of the season. and the money could also be put towards the wage budget to make N**wich sh**ty fc seem more attractive to a player. I would imagine if they sold him for 7 millions they could easily replace the ammount of goals he scores and help tighten up t the back.

This transfer fee sounds a lot ...but is it when you get down to the nitty gritty ?

this £7m is "gross" - then there is his contract and agents fees to pay off...and the percentage to Crewe for the sell on clause.

That cant leave too much to get in replacements plus agents fees plus wages - and all this is assuming that nodge get the £7m in a complete lump sum - which is highly unlikely IMO !
