Forster surgery on hold!

Post by Bluebird » Tue Jan 17, 2006 7:50 am

Town have decided not to operate on Nicky Forster's knee and the striker could even come into contention to play against Leeds at the end of the month if his recovery keeps progressing.

The 32-year-old striker has been sidelined since the defeat at Hull in late December and it was expected that he would undergo surgery this week to solve a likely cartilage problem.

Fozzie missed six weeks of action at the start of the season after having a cartilage operation and it was feared his recent problems were linked to that but Town physio Dave Williams has told the Club website that surgery is not necessary - for now.

"Fozzie has had a scan and the specialist says there is no new evidence of a problem and is reluctant to operate at this stage," says Dave.

"The knee is improving. It's certainly better than last week and as long as he keeps moving forward then surgery won't be necessary.

"He won't be involved at Southampton but Leeds at home at the end of the month is a possibility. It depends on how Fozzie's recovery progresses from here.

"We are guided by the specialist and he wants to give Fozzie every chance to recover without surgery. If he stops making progress though, then an operation obviously becomes more likely and that will mean a month out of the game."
Shall we run a book on how long he lasts???

If he could have stayed fit he would have been a success, but again his injuries are preventing this.
