Alan's double delight

Alan Lee was thrilled to open his goal account for Town with the Irishman rounding off an impressive 90 minutes at Southampton with both strikes in a 2-0 win.
Alan gave Blues a great start with the opener on four minutes and then made it a double in the closing stages with Saints' keeper Paul Smith denying the new signing a hat-trick with a point blank save seconds from time.
"I'm made up with the two goals and the three points that went with them," Alan told the Club website at St Mary's.
"I felt good from the first minute and could have had more than the two goals. Scoring early gave us a great start but after just missing with a diving header in the second-half, I was always worried they might nick a goal.
"The last 10 minutes dragged on so it was pleasing to see the second one go in.
"Any striker thrives on scoring goals and I'm no different so getting two against Southampton will give my confidence a boost, especially having just joined Ipswich."
The only blot on Alan's day was a yellow card picked up in the first-half for protesting to the assistant referee and it was decision that angered him.
"I never swore or anything like that. I just asked him a question so I have no idea why I was booked," added the 27-year-old.
"It was crazy and even the Southampton skipper asked the referee what he was booking me for."

If a Player accumulates five recorded cautions in FTCM between the opening day of the Playing Season and the last day in February in the same Season, he will be suspended automatically for a period covering: -
One First Team Match
He will have to be a good boy for a few weeks yet - they all will.

I must admit most of the cards seemed unfair decisions although saying that, he wasn't a bad ref. Southampton played dirty at times but we outclassed them.

it wasnt a dirty match at all IMHO, 3 non supporting town fans went with me today and all said Lee was by far the best player on the pitch, and matty richards made a big impression when he came on, i totally agree with that as well, to be honest i thought both teams were fairly ordinary in the 1st half, in the second town just soaked up soton's so called pressure and hit them on the break very well
even had the privilidge of seeing currie make a tackle today
