Mixed fortunes for frontmen

Post by Dazza » Fri Jan 27, 2006 11:27 am

There is contrasting news for Town strikers Nicky Forster and Sam Parkin with one closing in on a comeback and the other likely to need surgery.

The good news is that Sam is set to return to full training next week as he steps up his recovery from a broken ankle sustained against Reading in November.

"Sam is progressing well and is twisting and turning now without any problems," Town physio Dave Williams told the Club website.

"He is probably a week away from full training and then it will be about getting some reserve team football under his belt because he has been out for a long time.

"If all goes well, he could be back playing for the first-team by the middle of February."

It's not so bright for Fozzie though, with the former Reading striker struggling with a knee problem that has hindered him since the turn of the year.

"It's still sore when he sprints and we will have to take him back to the specialist for another look," adds Dave.

"It's been four weeks now and he's been 80 per cent but no more. It could be that the specialist will want to have a closer look under surgery."

Anyone get the feeling that he SHOULD have gone for that
surgery. Was it not our Physio who suggested he did NOT
need it..

hehe - I think he had showed some improvement and as such wanted to give him a chance to see if he could improve a bit more.

In all fairness it is now obvious that fozzie isn't going to be able to play a big part in the team which is a shame!!!!

However hopefully with Parkin and Proudlock fighting fit we will have options and competition again!!

Culd be a good point for Parkin/Proudlock, knowing how Lee is
performing if Fozzie was back it may effect their chances of
getting in the first team.. Shame whichever way you look at it, but
can see Proudlock really knowing he has got togo out and
prove himself with Parkin close by..
