"Ipswich Towns home shirts launched with a fanfare last summer could be obsolete by the start of the season"....."The name on the front seems ste to change yet again, although the sponsors could well stay the same"

Basically our sponsorship deal with Powergen is due to expire at the end of the season and although negotiations between Powergen and the club are at an advanced stage of renewing the sponsorship, Powergen looks likely to change its name to ...... e.on ....and the new deal with them could include the club having to make new shirts with the new name on

This isnt the clubs fault, they havent got much choice in the matter.

It's their parent firm I believe, E.ON is a German firm as far as I know.

I am sure they will still provide a crap service, but I will save that for the moan thread

It is a shame that the club cannot provide a subsidised replacement shirt for those that had already bought one.

They are cought between a rock and a hard place  ...they are not in a potition to either replace shirts or not accept Powergen's new sponsorship deal as I'm sure there is no alternative.

Lets face it we have the worst home kit in the league.

Wish they would change those shorts, i think this is an excuse to get more revenue and alter the kit style.

that sounds about right, we had a thread like this at the time E-on brought Powergen, basically us rabble will still buy power from Powergen, not e-on and im guessing its the same sorta thing, still gonna be the powergen brand.

i semi retract that statement after seeing the full article in the evening star
IPSWICH Town's new home shirts, launched with a fanfare last summer, could be obsolete by the start of next season.

Because the name on the front seems set to change yet again - although the sponsors could well stay the same!

The current sponsorship deal with energy giant Powergen is due to expire at the end of the season. However negotiations between the company and the club are at an advanced stage on renewing the sponsorship, and officials are hopeful that these will be successful.

They are confident that today's announcement that Powergen's parent company E.On is to take over sponsorship of the FA Cup next season will not have any impact on their sponsorship talks.

The company wants to phase out the Powergen name to replace it with E.On for domestic customers - and a spokesman said it was still unclear what name would be on Town shirts if the sponsorship was renewed.

The FA Cup will definitely carry the E.On name rather than Powergen - to get the branding attention in households across the country.
