Play off hopes

Scenario for IT is as follows:

IT currently 11 points behind PNE and CP, with PNE and CP having played 1 game less than IT.
Therefore the worst case scenario is that PNE and CP both win their game in hand which would mean that IT would be 14 points behind PNE and CP with 14 games to play.
On the basis that no other team puts in a run, then the target is to catch either PNE or CP.
For the remaing 14 games, IT really have to do better than PNE or CP on each game. This means:
If PNE or CP lose, then IT must draw or win.
If PNE or CP draw, then IT must really win.
If PNE or CP win, then IT must win.
IT still to play away at PNE and CP.
Only a small chance, but where there is hope.......
Saw this and thought it was quite good!

1 Reading 32 51 79
2 Sheff Utd 32 27 69
3 Watford 32 19 58
4 Leeds 31 19 58
5 Crystal Palace 32 14 52
6 Preston 32 17 51
7 Ipswich 34 -9 47
8 Cardiff 32 4 45
9 Luton 32 3 44
10 Wolverhampton 31 7 43
11 Burnley 32 0 43
12 Coventry 32 -1 41
13 Stoke 31 -9 39
14 Norwich 32 -10 39
15 QPR 32 -10 39
16 Plymouth 31 -8 38
17 Southampton 32 -4 36
18 Hull 32 -5 36
19 Derby 32 -8 33
20 Sheff Wed 32 -14 33
21 Leicester 32 -9 32
22 Brighton 32 -19 29
23 Millwall 32 -21 27
24 Crewe 32 -34 22
Thats the table if we beat PNE and Palace... (obviously I havent done the other teams results). But this shows you if we beat them we close the gap quite a lot! They have games in hand but we have to hope they drop points and we can have a strong run.

It is looking easier, but also impossible at the same time.

As this was posted was looking over ITs future matches, and have come up with the following...

Home-Burnley 3 points
Away- Crewe 3 points
Away- Wolves 1 point
Home- Leicester 3 points

Away- Preston 1 point
Home- Millwall 3 points
Away- Crystal Palace 1 point
Home- Hull City 3 points

Away- Luton Town 1 point
Home- Stoke 3 points
Home- Brighton 3 points
Away- Watford 0 points
Home- Derby 3 points
Away- Plymouth 3 points

With these results Ipswich would hit 72ish points.

In past seasons it can be seen that with 72+ points it is possible to get in to the play-offs. The matches to Crystal Palace and Preston are crucial, and with a win and draw or win and loss a play-off place looks more and more possible.
The results are what i think we can achieve, am very interested what others think, but I am very hopeful in the fact I think we can still make a promotion charge via the play-offs.

Well guys we have been drawing a lot of games that we would have hoped to win and although we converted one point into 3 on Sunday its a bit optimistic to call this a trend. I think our high number of draws will prevent us from getting in this year. Still I think we have a little excitement left before May and the real action starts 8) 8)

There you go, there my stupidly optimist outlook. That would leave us on 75 points... last years table finished like this:
1 Sunderland 46 +35 94
2 Wigan Athletic 46 +44 87
-------------------------------------------
3 Ipswich Town 46 +29 85
4 Derby County 46 +11 76
5 Preston 46 +9 75
6 West Ham 46 +10 73

-------------------------------------------
7 Reading 46 +7 70
8 Sheffield Utd 46 +1 67
9 Wolves 46 +13 66
10 Millwall 46 +6 66
11 QPR 46 -4 62
12 Stoke City 46 -2 61

etc...

I fancy our chances away at PNE. They are indifferent at home and appear to play their best footie away from home.We need some pay back too for Nugent's cockyness in front of the north faithfull....bring it on!!

I'm very confident that we can do it this season. I've been saying all season that this season has been no different to the ones in the first division under Burley. It was almost always characteristic of us that we'd be relegation candidates up until Christmas then put together something like a total unbeaten run between then and the end of the season and either end up comfortably in the playoffs or even as automatic contenders.

WE CAN DO IT, COME ON YOU BLUES!

That was FA cup though, in the league, it would seem that they've already played each other twice... Preston beat em 2-1 on the 31st

If Ipswich get in the Playoffs, they will win it, cos we would have had such a gd run!
