Tractor Boys eye striker

Play-off outsiders Ipswich are poised to look at signing a loan striker in a bid to keep their slim hopes alive.
Teenager Danny Haynes is having a scan on an ankle injury sustained in the Tractor Boys' 2-1 win over Norwich the East Anglian derby at Carrow Road on Sunday, when he forced the ball over the line for the winning goal just two minutes from time.
Manager Joe Royle said: "Whether we actually bring in a striker on loan depends on what they find when young Danny has his scan. We don't suspect anything sinister, but if he is going to miss more than two games I will make my move.
"If he's just going to miss the home game against Burnley on Saturday and the trip to Crewe next Tuesday I'll leave things as they are, otherwise I'll look to get a new face on board."
Ipswich are short of firepower as Nicky Forster recently underwent his second cartilage operation of the season and Sam Parkin, although fit after a broken ankle, is nowhere near match fit.

Would you prefer we bring him in or play 4-5-1?

Not a bad idea! altho 4-5-1 did win us the derby....
Haynes was playing as the attacking midfeilder.

I agree, although my only concern is if Lee gets injured.
Maybe we could do with Lupoli to be on the bench like Haynes was...

Id sooner have Knights on the bench or one of the youth strikers. Sheringham,Leabon,Boto

Lupoli has the goal touch. Why not spend the money. The idea is to disturb the rest of a functioning team as little as possible. The idea of using Naylor upfront is IMHO absurd. (Sorry guys).

How much of Lupoli have you seen ? He is over rated w*nk! If you saw him in any of the carling cup games this year you would know why im saying this. He will NEVER play regular for Arsenal another Chris Wreh, or Jermaine Allidallire.

No way, for the first time in ages our backline is starting to look very solid, and we shouldnt disrupt it! Plus, aren't Naylor and Lee to similar?!

Luke. Of course you are right. I haven't seen him at all.
But the stats always tell a story and he seems to have the habit of finding the net.
I think if we bring in a loanee we need someone with confidence, not someone who's been overlooked and needs handholding for a while before he gets it back. Just my opinion of course

agreed ! the defence has a solid " thou shalt not pass" ..look about it now -so to mess around with that back four would be suicidal IMO !
Is Billy Clarke still unfit ?

Profile
A prolific scorer at youth and reserve levels, much is expected of Arturo Lupoli. What the Parma-born striker lacks in size and stature he more than makes up for in pace, poise and a keen eye for goal.
National team
Lupoli has been capped by Italy at Under-16 and U17 levels, scoring a superb 15 goals in 19 games for the latter team.
Club
After starting out at his hometown club, Parma FC, Lupoli switched to Arsenal in July 2004, with the Premiership side paying a fee of up to €300,000 as compensation.
2004/05: Lupoli made an immediate impact in the reserve team at Highbury before being handed his first-team debut in the League Cup win against Manchester City FC in October. He scored twice in his second game against Everton FC, but made just two more appearances as Arsène Wenger sought to control his progress. Limited to the second string, Lupoli finished as the reserve league's top scorer with 19 goals.
Did you know?
Lupoli scored an amazing 40 goals in 20 games as Parma won the Primavera league in Italy.

I knew someone would bring up the youth recored! But unfortunatley we have players who where/are JUST as prolific at youth level. So in my opinion he simply isnt worth it. He couldnt cut it against doncaster etc this season he wouldnt in the championship.

to rock our current solid defence..

Well of course Luke has a point. Success in the lower levels doesn't guarantee success in the big boys games. But I would say that a bit of precocious talent plus unswerving confidence in yourself (arrogance) can get you a long way for a few games. And a few games is all we will need.
I also think that his reputation goes before him a bit and he may attract a lot of attention from championship defenders perhaps giving Lee & the midfielders a better chance of getting some space.
But at the end of the day loans are always a gamble.

as always, DB the voice of reason
for me this could of been Bowditch's chance this season if he hadnt been farmed out on loan for under performing earlier in the season, hes not even starting for wycombe at the moment, hes on the bench
BFJ hasnt named any striker he might be chasing, so theres a good chance it may not even be lupoli, lets just wait and see

Reserve level counts for nothing IMO it just gives match experince.

Its a fair point but I also don't think that judging him on one FA Cup against Doncaster is enough to judge him either. We really could do with a nw striker tho, Juan is our joint top scorer alongside Parkin.

Gotta agree with a previous post, im a big fan of giving the Youngsters a chance, and now that we are short on Strikers, the likes of Billy Clarke, Mini Mac, and Boto are waiting in the wings, im a big fan of Mini Mac, and would love to see him get a run in the team. Hes such a great player to watch!

I'd be made up if we got Walcott... unfortunately I don't reckon that's gonna happen though. I get the impression that Arsenal want to get him integrated into the Highbury set up as soon as possible.
