Ipswich midfielder Matt Richards is eager to extend his contract at Portman Road beyond the end of the current season.
The 21-year-old's career has enjoyed a new lease of life in recent months, with manager Joe Royle switching him from the left-back role in which he won England Under-21 honours two years ago.
The academy graduate said: "This is a brilliant club and this is where I want to play my football. My agent is discussing a deal with the chairman and I'm ready to sign once everything is sorted out.
"To be honest, I don't even know what length of contract they are talking about, but I don't envisage any problems.
"I've been with the club since I was 10 and full-time since I turned 16, so I think I would find it very strange if I went somewhere else!
"I was out of the side earlier in the season but not for a massive period, so I've never really thought about moving. Things have worked out well for me here."
