Kevin Horlock has joined League One Doncaster on an initial month's loan and is set to make his debut for the club in the Yorkshire derby with Barnsley on Saturday.
Ironically Barnsley were one of several clubs that were interested in the 33-year-old midfielder, with Yeovil and Oldham also reported to be keen on the former Northern Ireland international.
Horlock is out of contract at Portman Road in the summer and has been told by Town boss Joe Royle that he will not be offered a new deal and is free to leave the Club.
Doncaster, who are managed by Dave Penney, a friend of Jim Magilton from their time together at Oxford, enjoyed fantastic success in the Carling Cup this year, knocking out Manchester City and Aston Villa.
They were only a minute away from beating Arsenal in the Quarter-Finals as well before eventually losing out on penalties but their League form has been patchy and they are currently below halfway.
Penney has not been helped by an injury crisis though with eight players missing for Saturday's home game.
