Supple not my choice!

Post by rainblue » Sun Feb 12, 2006 11:25 am

Sorry but most think opposite to me, but supple although a good shot stopper and may have the edge in coming out, i still would prefer Price in goal.

His alround game is much better and mainly his Kicking and disrtibution over an entire game is more accurate.

Supple on the other hand was woeful yesterday, he never made one decent kick when it was passed back to him. his dristribution is terrible, he puts his full backs under unessessary pressure on a number of occasions. This is not a one game event it is happening to often for my liking. It will cost us a goal sooner or later.

For gods sake give him some kicking practice!!!!!!!

I think Supple is a hell of a lot better than Lewis Price is every aspect of the game, hes a great keeper and hes only young, so he will get better and better. Price seems to have got worse as hes got older, and his kicking is a joke

I think Supple is a brilliant keeper, and should be given the number 1 shirt next season. While his kicking was erratic at times i still feel his distribution of play is much better than Price's. The good thing about Supple is he realises we need to keep possesion, so looks to throw quickly to the wings instead of the long punt upfield.

Eh?

I don't remember too many kicks being that bad?

Are you sure you weren't confusing him with the Burnley goalie who's kicks to touch would've been more appreciated at Twickenham?

Shane seems to like rolling the ball out quickly, as previously mentioned, which I also think aids the speed of our conterattacks and allows us to keep possession.

Sorry Rainblue but I really don't see what your problem with Supple is, he had very little to do yesterday but did everything competently in my opinion, I see no point in dropping him and potentially destabilising what is starting to look like a solid backline.

personally his distribution is far superior to Prices in my opionion, and prefer to see him in between the sticks.

Tbh I think we are fortunate to have 2 good young keepers on our books.
As with all young players no doubt both of them will have dips in form but that can only be expected. At this moment in time imo Supple deserves the No 1 shirt but hopefully they will both continue to improve and push one another all the way.

I'll try to be magnanamous, but I can't respect such a ridiculous view. Only a blind half dead mutant could value price over supple on say, the last 6 months of appearances.

....shut the door on your way out !

Supple is the best of the two IMHO !- has a greater awarenes and presence in and around the box - Price is very good , but lacks presence in the box - oh ! and he cant hold those crosses as cleanly IMHo !

Also when Supple throws the ball out it gave the guy behind me the opportunity to make me laugh by shouting out, in his best Adam Gilchrist impersonation,

"Bowled Shane!"

Cracked me up everytime!

As Shed said, we're very lucky to have two great 'keeper's but as much as I'm happy with Lewis, at this moment in time Shane is by far the better of the two.

Ipswich are lucky enough to have two great goalkeepers in their squad. So we do have a luxury in that area. But I do have to argee with every one else and say that Shane Supple in the best out of the two.

Sorry rainblue, don't agree with you, but we've all got a right to our own opinion.

in my opinion both gk's are superb, however with supple in goal i feel that more confident if honest.

can't tell my daughter that though, she is 7 and price is her favourite player, his signed picture is her pride and joy.
