Alan Lee's a football genius!

Post by toby » Sun Feb 12, 2006 2:54 pm

My first sighting of Alan Lee yesterday and what can I say?

Another masterstroke by Royle, the bloke looked fan-bloody-tastic!

I know we shouldn't get excited too quickly, he needs to do the business over a longer time period before that happens but he really looks the real deal.

His gangly, straggly appearance belies a great touch and even a surprisingly quick turn of pace and of course he knows where the goal is!

He was very unlucky with his header against the post and if his 50 yard jinking run and shot from the wing had not been saved by Fat Boy we would've witnessed one of the best goals ever scored in front of the North Stand!

I really think that Alan Lee is going to become an absolute leg-end for us.

(Let's hope I haven't put the kiss of death on him!)

Agreed.

As soon as he gets the ball hes off down the wing or holding it up for the midfield to get up to support!

Doesnt 100k look so good at the moment?! :D

Its just nice for JR to get a bit of praise for a signing for once. Normally people remember the Diallo's and Santos', but they forget the Kuqi's, Jaun's and Lee's!

I can't wait to see him play, I only get to see the highlights, but he looks a strong and honest striker.

Like Toby, it was my first sighting of Lee on saturday. He was by far our best player and I think that in time he will be better than Bent and Kuqi (if he doesnt leave). For our first goal, he was strong and did well to turn. He also set up our second goal (even if it was a bit soft) by drawing the foul. Then he ran 50 yards back towards his own goal to win the ball, and 50 yards in the opposite direction (with the ball) and let off a good shot that was going bottom corner and was well saved by fatty boy in goal

It wasnt that long ago that people were slagging BFJ off for spending 100k of our very minimal transfer kitty on a cardiff reject who hadnt scored in ages

now everyones seen what lee can do they are praising the player and not BFJ for having the balls to bring him in, im certainly not BFJ's biggest fan but this could just prove to be a master stroke on his part

i did state that if nothing else Lee could hold the ball up well, so in other words

told ya so

Talking with Earl after the game he made a good point!
He is very simlar to Ruud Van Nistelroy in style of play. In the way he turns and runs with the ball and his strength and hold up play. I was sceptical of the signing but looks 100k well spent!
