Injuries cost Town boss

Post by Dazza » Sun Feb 12, 2006 4:31 pm

Joe Royle reckons Ipswich would be a lot closer to the top six had it not been for a catalogue of injuries this season.

The Ipswich boss saw his side overcome Burnley 2-1 at Portman Road thanks to Alan Lee's goal and a penalty from Matt Richards after Michael Ricketts had equalised.

"But for a horrendous run of injuries I think we would have been in or around the play-off places already," said Royle.

"I don't think anyone can disagree that we deserved to win. We had 24 shots, some of them high wide and glorious, but there were two that counted.

"Five weeks ago our fans thought we were going to be relegated, so it's great to see this revival."
