Jay McEveley is back?

Jay McEveley is returning to the Club on Monday as he steps up his recovery from medial ligament damage.

The England U21 international made 15 appearances for Town after joining the Club from Blackburn on a season long loan before damaging his knee in November.

He returned to Ewood Park to have surgery but will be back at the Club from Monday as he increases his rehabilitation.

"Jay will be back with us from Monday and we'll be pleased to see him again," Town boss Joe Royle told the Club website from the team bus as it headed north to the midlands with Blues in action at Wolves on Saturday.

"He will working with our physio staff in his rehab but he is still a long way from playing yet."
What does this mean? We are going to sign him permanently when he recovers?

Season loan, can't remember what game I saw him in now, but I liked what I saw for a young lad.

bit odd really, i thought we'd got shot of him for the season. Cant really see where he fits in with barron, richards, sito and wilnis all possibilitys for left back

Hes sh*t! my personal opinouns was, when he played we was poorer at the back, compared to normal. soon as he left our defence began to look stronger and more balanced

My opinions on McEveley blew hot and cold throughout his time before injury. He was very much like Richards at left back - inconsistent but he did have some raw talent and a good engine.

His favoured position by his own admission is centre back so maybe Joe is interested in getting him in for next season to compete for both left back and central defensive spots as De Vos will be a year older and you can never have too many squad players.

I liked him at first, then his performance slipped.

Prefer Barron.

Cool, good to see him back fighting for the left back position with Barron

all adds to the competition for places - and lets not forget Barron is a youngster so it will allow some changes that will give the kid a break. We dont know he (Barron) may actually be starting to feel the strain of producing a high level of performance week in week out !

, changed your mind on your earlier post?

Well hes still a way off match fitness so we might not see that much more of him.

Well McEverley is a good young talent who had some good games with us earlier in the season. As someone already said he isn't likely to have much involvement at least for the next couple of months but it looks like JR has his eyes on him for next season and wants to keep him in the setup.

This must be good since we are a little light of a full squad size in defence and maybe then our defenders can concentrate on their usual positions rather than having to be versatile :)
