No bottle
Can anyone on here remind me of the games since the play-offs of 2000 where something has been at stake & Ipswich have come out on top.
My question is, are we a team of bottlers ?

Last day of the 01/02 season comes to mind. Must win to have any chance of staying up, get HORSED by Liverpool.
End of 02/03 season, f*ck up a whole load of games and a play-off place into the bargain. Most memorable was the defeat to Rotherham which basicly finished the season.
03/04 there's the defeats to Wet Sham.
04/05 we have the game at Brighton (winning wouldn't have made any difference but, hey, it would have been nice) and the shambles again against the Spammers.
So yeah, I'd agree. Bottlers we are.

True in a way, but don't forget games such as the first leg of the Play-offs last year, two nil down at West Ham and getting mauled and we pulled it back to 2-2.
And 1999 when we went 2-0 down at Bolton and pulled it around to 2-2 again.
And we went 1-0 down in the Play off final against Barnsley didn't we?

That is my main problem with Joe.bramford blue wrote:Can anyone on here remind me of the games since the play-offs of 2000 where something has been at stake & Ipswich have come out on top.

He has done wonderful things with little money, but when its come to the crunch, our performance levels always dip and yup, we bottle it. Thats a management problem.

I dunno if the first leg against the Spammers is a good example - one terribly flukey mis-hit goal, and one own goal by the keeper, kept us in it by the barest of margins - for the rest of the game we were being pulled apart.toby wrote:True in a way, but don't forget games such as the first leg of the Play-offs last year, two nil down at West Ham and getting mauled and we pulled it back to 2-2.

As was typical of the end of the season, our two "Premiership quality strikers" were completely out of it.

Yes, BB, you can take that attitude, but then again there are numerous examples of times when we have come out on top -
Last season against Wigan at home to send us top of the league.
Our numerous UEFA cup games
This season's derby at Carrow Road
The numerous fightbacks we have made (0-2 - 3-2 vs Sheffield Utd anyone?)
The this is, with this club anyone can pick out anything they want to press home a point!

I take your point - and with past teams I would definately say we were. But with this current side I would say we have a high proportion of youngsters still learning their game. Its no coincidence for instance , that Barron looks a little jaded recently...and we also have had the worst run of ijnuries yto ALL our strikers - that I can ever recall !bramford blue wrote:Can anyone on here remind me of the games since the play-offs of 2000 where something has been at stake & Ipswich have come out on top.
