Result was 1.0 to Chelsea but they really didnt deserve it.....there were no big names but they looked a big strong side....we were fielding a team that many players that had made their first team debuts this season....Sammy Moore lost his place to Jay McEverly who really impressed me, he was playing like he did when he first came on loan...Casement was obviously full of confidence and didnt put a foot wrong.....Skaard also looked a more confident player and covered every blade of grass, where as before you used to forget he was playing as he tended to drift in and out of games a bit...not tonight
we started the game with a 4,5,1...I think with Haynes on his own up front, being supported by Clarke, Peters and McDonald...this resulted in great forward play and about 6 or 7 shots in the first 15mins....we were far the better team going forward and Lewis had very little to do in goal.
The second half went a but flat as I think Chelsea had sussed us out a bit and were playing very defensively..their goal came from a silly free kick conceaded by McEverly..(only thing wrong he did all night )...pulling on a chelsea shirt....the resulting free kick produced a fantastic goal, nothing Lewis could have done to save it.
Chelsea reserves learn very early on how to cheat, and tempers got frayed....handbags..almost fists from where what i could see...Haynes in the middle of it all....ref had a job to calm things down for a while !!!
Overall it was an exciting but bitterly cold game to watch, looking good defensively and really a draw would have been a much fairer result....
