Reserve footie tonite at Needham Market....
I have'nt been for awhile and i guess i am going tonite to particulary see super sammy Parkin on his comback trail....
I know he has his critics,I am also aware of his poor showing in a Town shirt. But you know! Iv'e got a gut feeling about this kid that next season is going to be his. This injury that he picked up was the longest and by far the worse in his career so far,I think his lay off could be the making of him and by watching from the sidelines, what is expected from him at this level.
I note that Casement is omitted from the reserves,so i am optimistic that he could start tomorrow against Hull.
I am hoping that Parkin can start to mould a partnership with Lee Starting with the Stoke City game at home on April 8th. I'm hoping to attend tonites match (subject to my son's decision) and will post a brief report as to Parkins progress.....watch this space!!!

I agree with you about parkin mate. He got off on the wrong foot here, and then broke it !! Hopefully he will come back a different player and strike up a great partnership with lee during the end of this season and pre season so next season we are back to the freescoring ipswich we know.
I look forward to reading your report.

I agree with you ref SP ...and I also believe next season he and Lee will be banging the goals in for fun....Sam Parkin's season never rea;;y got off the ground - he came into a badly srtuggling team and never had a consistent strike partner...as JR says Parkin and Forster have only managed 6 starts all season and they were bought to be our main strike force this season! -- Next season we are gonna ROCK - baby !!loudnproud wrote:I have'nt been for awhile and i guess i am going tonite to particulary see super sammy Parkin on his comback trail....

Yes indeed,Town won 2-0 beating a very poor suposedly prem reserve side under the name of West Ham!!
Parkin's performance was what i made the 120 mile round trip for and though he only played 45 mins in the first half,His overall contribution was good. On a pitch that was greasy and fast,Parkin held the ball up well and got his head on the majority of the high balls comming his way,Lacking in obvious match fitness and watched by BFJ,I came away from the game feeling that Parkin could make a drematic comeback against Luton Town on April fools day,If not, then certainly against Stoke the following week.
I along with 510 others also witnessed the emerging return of Jay Mceverly. He had a solid game playing at left back, firm heading of the ball and solid challanges to boot too.A crunching tackle on 76 mins bought a frown from this supporter as Mceverly developed a knock on his injured leg.A short lived concern on my part thankfully as Mceverly ran it off and continued for the full 90 mins.
Light weight but still very lively was the impresive Jamie Peters on the right wing position. Loves running at defenders when he puts his mind to it,He does have lots of potential to make it big in this league, setting up the second Town goal from the left central position.
My opinion is that if BFJ is looking for a centre half for next season,I would look no further than perhaps grooming Mceverly into that position,His pace is their, though the timing of his runs needs tuning,With the impending emergance of Casement at centre half also. I am of the belief that Parkin and Lee could be a force, supported by sicknote Forster and the youth of Haynes,Knights.
As a final thought, I was impressed with the workrate of Knights,For one so small,he certainly put himself about alot and was involved in everything through the centre.
On the nite a comfortable win for Town,West Ham did level the scores on 80 mins, the goal being ruled off side. The youth looks full of promise,The senior players comming back from long term injury comming through okay.....see ya awl tomorrow.......Pssttt!!! I note that our feathered neighbours up the A140 were beaten 2-0 by Burnley!!! A win tomorrow and the weekend looks good for me......above the budgies again!!
