Sam comeback held up

Post by squiz18 » Mon Mar 27, 2006 4:58 pm

Sam Parkin's return to action from a broken ankle has been put on hold after he had a reaction following a run out for the reserves against West Ham on Friday.

The 25-year-old striker, who has been sidelined since the defeat by Reading in November, played the first 45 minutes of the 2-0 win over the Hammers in his comeback match following the break.

"Sam has had a reaction, more than we would have expected," Town physio Dave Williams explained to the Club website.

"The ankle was sore virtually as soon as he walked off the pitch and over the weekend it was painful and stiff.

"He was down to play for the reserves this week but that won't happen now and we will have to give him more time.

"The discomfort has probably come from him trying to do too much on it too soon so we will have to give the ankle time to settle down.

"The fracture itself has healed well but the problem now is the tendinitis around the back of the ankle which is very sore at the moment."

With only a month of the Championship campaign left, it could be that Sam will not return to the first-team scene before the start of next season.

Why rush it now when there is no real need (not as if he is making a late bid to go to Germany in the summer), best if time is taken and start afresh next campaign.

Im at work...and lazing on the job...I can do without comments like that Todd haha...I laughed out loud at the Parkin making a run for Germany comment, attracting management attention   haha!

Good point with Sam, we might as well be playing Danny H, get him some more experince....other than that Dean Mac or gosh even Jaime Peters...see if his ability matches his ego!! :o

Don't rush Sam, as soon as he comes back better players with more potential drop down the pecking order, i.e Haynes, Clarke & Knights.
