If it's just a matter of the fourth official and the referee viewing a sideline monitor to discuss a call...then it shouldn't take anymore time than it takes the referee to discuss an offside call with the Linesman(Ref. Asst.). But what would the criteria be for disputing a call? I think there should be a limit as to how many times a Manager can dispute a call, otherwise the flow of the game would certainly be affected. If each Manager is allowed only one or two disputes, he would be less likely to abuse the rule. Consequently, Manager's would probably prefer to save a dispute for a game-changing conflict. For example, when Tottenham's goal against Man Utd. was disallowed even though it clearly crossed the goal line in the replays, or when a player is clearly onside when he scores a goal. These are the types of disputes that could change a game.

Big fat NO

im completely against it, the only real reason people are talking about it these days is because of the premier league, if there wasnt so much money riding on teams final league positions no one would be asking for it, we've always managed in the past, so why cant we continue to keep the game the way it is??

we should have a system like in rugby union where players and refs are assessed by the "sighting" board or summut like that, then players like drogba would be banned for being a diving cheat and refs could be punished for not spotting him tripping over daisy's and then rolling around on the ground as if bam bam had just knocked 10 barrels of sh*te out of him

I think video refs should be introduced into the game!!!

I also feel that perhaps it is time we started using 4 linesmen - or at least let the current two run the entire length of the pitch.

The drogba handball vs fulham recently was actually called right in that the ref gave a handball decision. However how on the earth the ref, or the assistant ref on the right hand side could have seen it is beyond me.

The poor luck we have had this season in terms of red cards I would say that a video ref could quickly give the referee a decision. And as the video refs decision would be final players would have to leave the pitch immediately!

IMO no. Based on rugby league, it does work, and its very good but it slows the game down. Id prefer someone watching the game from different angles, and the referee having an earpiece in, and in which they can communicate.

No, if every call was right what the hell would be have to get angry about?

And also, it creates a two tier system in football. Basicly the prem would have it, we might have it, the football league might have it, but the rest of football wouldn't. What makes football great is the fact that it's essentially the same game at all levels, with the same number of players, rules and officials if you're Manchester United or the Kings Head on Sunday mornings down the park.

Never used to have all these problems before the advent of the television revolution.

Sure, all sorts of strange things went on at games and we debated the pros and cons of some decisions, but IMHO the scale of todays problem is brought about by the continual analysis of every incident and decision in minutia by the so called experts.

It just goes on and on, feeding on itself until some incident gains a life of its own being continually referred to long after it happened.

Refs and players make strange decisions and do weird things at times on the pitch, but they should be put to bed as soon as possible and not picked over even after the next game has been played.

Sh!t happens - move on!

So for me - NO.

not during a game no, but a review panel after the game who can award cards and dismiss them ETC so Drogba would have been given a card for the handball against Fulham and the one against Man City and the red card that newcastle picked up against *cant think who was* would be revoked, you get the idea

There is already a two-tier systm in football regarding officiating. In sunday league it's very rare to actually have an FA-qualified referee. I know because I've been asked to referee before and I play for one of the teams I was refereeing. As well as that, the linesmen are always taken from the two sides. Now if that doesn't create bias, I don't know what does!
