Its getting close to that time of the season - when oince again Town's players are subject to specilative transfer talk.
I think this is a price we have to pay here at ITFC, for having one of the best , if not THE BEST Acadamy's, in the league. We produce some of the best talent in the Country, do we not? So,. naturally we are the "hunting ground" for any Prem side that cannot afford to compete at the Chelsea, Man Utd, & Arsenal levels for transfer fees.
But more importantly it's about HOW Ipswich Town FC as a club , will now deal with any approaches for our players. Until recently (if we believe the
Board about how our finances have been re-structured) we have been in no position to refuse another Club's advances for our talented players.
BUT now our finances have been re-structured Town appear to indicate that no player will leave here unless it's for silly money (assuming "every player had a price")...and indeed have said no youngsters will be going anywhere.
Sooo. CharlTOWN can / will approach and enquire about our players - but if Town are true to their word - a rebuff to CharTown and similar Clubs should be result !!
The only thing that worries me is that Town are now "hinting" that unless ST sales reach similar proportions to last season ..."they may have to consider selling players"... I personally view this last point as emotoional blackmail by ITFC on it's supporters !!!
SPECULATIONS.......

Spot on and how many of us REALLY believe what sheepy says. I believe he loves town as we all do and hes made mistakes as we all have in our jobs but I for one dont trust a single word he says anymore.......and hes only himself to blame that the fans have no confidence in his word.

I'm sick of the b0ll0x that Mr. Sheepshanks speaks.
Every season he says that he will not be forced to sell players on the cheap, I recall him saying it last year, just prior to us selling Benty, for a measly £2.5million, now look, he is probably closer to the £10m mark after just 9 months away from the club.
I wouldn't be surprised if we see Garvan go for less than £2m and Supple for a similar price in the summer, the sad truth seems to be that Sheepshanks can never turn down money, no matter how good the player. Also, you're right HallamBlue, it is emotional blackmail!!

Bent was different, we had to sell him, he had a year left to run on his contract and he was not going to sign a new one, would you rather he went for nothing?I'm sick of the b0ll0x that Mr. Sheepshanks speaks.

Things have changed this year, all our hotter prosects are in long deals so we will not be forced to sell them like we were Bent so we can hold out for more money or just tell them to get stuffed.
if how ever the season ticket sales aren't as high as this year we will more then likely have to let one player go to balence the books, that sadly is business and before you say our board is crap i know a company which turned over £1.8billion and managed to lose money last year, so its not as bad as it looks

I'm realy not to bothered if the likes of Juan,Garvin,Supple or any other player are here or not,as long as a passing, attractive game of footie is being played next season and we are competing is what matters.
We all have our views of DS....I too believe that he has his heart in the club,But any buisnessman who allows his heart to rule his head will soon come unstuck in buisness.
The club are looking for new investors and will use any means it can to lure our money into their pockets as any other buisness does. The 4 major supermarkets have been doing it for years.

Each and every one of us dream of being back in the prem with the big boys,We will return, when remains to be seen.I simply want to be their when it does happen. Enjoy the season!
