Which players will leave this summer?

Post by Rach » Tue Apr 25, 2006 1:53 pm

Joe says on his interview on Radio Suffolk ( http://www.bbc.co.uk/suffolk/sport/ipsw ... ndex.shtml ) that he's looking to get 2/3 new players in so we can push for automatic promotion....But for that to happen, we're gonna have to sell some players. Joe says that it won't be the academy players (so that rules out Supple, Garvan, Haynes etc - providing no big bids are made) .....

So who do you think Joe's got in mind of selling?....

Presumbably Price as he wont want another season on the bench....but I cant see us getting that much for him

Also, Bowditch, but again i dont think we'd get that much for him

Maybe Currie...if anyone out there wants him (Watford for £400k sounds a good deal! :D )

Also, maybe Parkin?....he's perhaps not guaranteed a starting place next season as we've also got Lee, Forster, Haynes, Clarke etc...

Thoughts??

I'd say defo Bowditch out the door ...possibly Currie (IF we are offered the reported fee fromWtaford we'd be mad not to accept it )

I think we will keep our established older strikers and add to them next term. Parkin hasnt hada chance to prove himself has he ? But nexts eason if we keep playing footy the "Ipswich way", then he is going to be far more effective . He was never ever a "target" man, but get him on the end of a few crosses from Williams ...Peters?? Richards etc - or flicks ons from Lee, or Forster..... boom .."goal" !

Currie said at the players award night (according to my sources) that he is intending to stay and will be looking to sign a new contract in the coming weeks

Interesting question. If I'm honest I don't see anyone leaving.

Already McEverly, Jim & Juan are on their way. Replacing them all with quality players and adding a striker (Fuller ?) will be tough enough as it is.

Perhaps a couple of the fringe kids might go.

Price definately indicated at the Awards night that he didn't want to sit on the bench next season. He also praised Supple and said he was a much better goalie. So I can see him being the first to go.

I do hope you're right, but sadly I think he'll go for half of that

There is no way Parkin would go. After this season No one would pay 500k for him, and even sheepy wouldnt sell someone in Parkins position. He will be first choice striker to begin next season along with Lee and i think that combo could get us promoted. Haynes Clarke and forster will have mor bit roles.

As for Price, i hope he doesnt go, not this season anyway. I think the right place for him is here, where he still has a good chance of playing alot of games.

Other departures, im not sure of really, have to see who comes in first.

im with squiz

no one can even judge parkin yet after the season hes had, when he was fit he played in probably the worst town team for 10 years...he'll prove everyone wrong next season providing BFJ finally gets his fooking tactics right!!!

i havent seen much of price but ive heard plenty on the radio...and he has excelled for wales in his few starts, so i wouldnt just let him go without a fight, if hes good enough to play international football hes well worth a place in out team!!!

He's a silly lad if he goes - unless its to some rubbish club where he is a starter all the time, he's got exposure at Town is playing internationals as a Keeper at 21!! So life in't that bad - Supple is very very good, but Price is no mug and at Supple's age he is prone to runs of poor form and a bit of burnout with week in week out playing.

Price should stay - he's just about equal number one at this club - and it will be hard to get that elsewhere especially when your rival is wet behind the ears, and Joe is keen on keeping both hungry and fresh. Also our keeper coach obviously knows a thing or to and will he get that level of expertise at the destination club??
