Fuller Move Unlikely

Joe Royle says it is now unlikely that Town will make a summer move for former loanee Ricardo Fuller. The Jamaican scored two goals in an eventful three-game loan spell earlier this year.
Royle told the club site that Fuller's excellent form since leaving Portman Road - five goals in five games - has ended any chance of a permanent switch: "I would have dearly loved to have brought Ricardo here but he has gone and botched that by doing so well at Southampton.
"So that's unlikely to happen now and I don't think there is another striker available that could come in and do what Fuller might have been able to do here.
"But we have three senior strikers with a good goals records in Sam, Fozzie and Alan Lee, and we also have the promise of Danny Haynes and Billy Clarke.
"We also have Dean Bowditch, who we hope will take that leap next season with all that ability and promise he has.

We don't need Fuller!
Lee, Parkin, Forster, Clarke and Haynes will be our main strikers next season, just hope they all stay fit this time.

Scolari is over our wage budget isnt he. Personally, i feel we need to concentrate on defence more than attack. At the end of the day, whats point in having a decent strikeforce, if you cant rely on the back four to stop the opposition scoring.

I don't believe that. I think his initial hesitation in going to Ipswich on loan was simply that it indicated he was second choice at Southampton and he wanted to prove to Southampton what he could do. He was receiving very harsh treatment from Southampton fans when he left to go on loan. I think when he came here he really was prepared to stay. Since returning to Southampton he has scored a goal a game (6) and single-handedly brought them out of serious risk for relegation.
The fans that were booing him are now cheering him. I know he was very bitter about the treatment he received at Southampton and the thought was he was going to show them what he could do and then leave.
I really don't know what he has in his mind now. I do know that his form turned around when he came to Ipswich. I think the positive attitude you guys gave him helped his confidence a great deal.

I think the main reason that Southampton sent him out on loan was to build up his fitness. Obviously sitting out week in week out wasnt going to help them towards the end of the season. He came here, showed Burley what he could do (apart from the two fingers incident), scored a couple of goals. Now he is banging them in for Southampton. Signing Fuller would have been an additional positive, but it wouldnt have been any good for the players we already have. Why would we need another striker anyway? Lee and Forster, when fit, could be an interesting combination. Parkin adds that extra strength and aerial ability, and then we have youngsters in Clarke and Haynes pushing for places.
The main area we should be concentrating on is defence and midfield. At the end of the day if your defence is solid as a rock, you dont let in goals. If you have a good midfield with pace (unlikely with Royle), and creativity, you have the perfect balance to go out and score goals. I just hope that Royle learns from this season, sees the errors, diminishes them, and emulates from Reading's season.

Completely agree Fully.....we can really learn from Reading...they didnt have the best squad at the beginning of the season, but they had a team who worked hard and that was the main difference....
