Aint you forgetting a simple fact. We have had numerous injuries and played nearly a team of inexperienced 17 year olds. I know that aint any excuse, but its still the defining fact ofwhy we are where we are.

Thanks Hallam. Hopefully the players can go out and have a long hard rest, for what has been a tough season for them. Just hope we can stay clear of the injuries next season.

I doubt it could get worse, but we could have smaller number injuries, that are more serious. All we need is a couple of serious injuries to our better players, and our whole team balance is thrown out of proportion.

if this is our worst final placing i 40 years - some Clubs would be happy with it - not saying we should at all ...but trying to keep things in perspective (ref our recent admin and disembowlement of the club) we have done well not to be relegated IMO this season!

Yes, we have some questionable decisions Rossi, but what could he do. No money to bring in new players, a bunch of academy players who have no or little experience of Championship football. We was always on a losing end. Of course you could always say Royle was wrong in bringing a bunch of has-beens to the club.

or u could say he unearthed a few academy players with real potential, but id say he was forced to play them simply because of the injuries, without the emergence of the youth players royle would of been long gone, personally im begining to wish he'd never had to play them and had been on his bike months ago

Not at all - Harry Redknapp proved a few seasons ago with Pompey that you can walk this league with a bunch of old timers. The trick is getting the right players in - Pompey had not a lot more money than we had available for this season but the players they got in were a lot better - of course that's because Redknapp is a far far better manager than Royle.

I know that Royle has brought in the likes of Shefki and Alan Lee, but these have been far outweighed by the likes of Dinning, Horlock, McEverley, et al.

When I was at school we had a saying about the girls in the opposite school to us (this was in the days before mixed education) - old enough to bleed, old enough to butcher. I don't see why this can't also apply to footballers - in fact in cases such as Rooney, Giggs, etc is just as well it did.
