Must admit his appointment does not fill me with any great enthusiasm.
I note alot of the current squad are happy with the appointment (maybe they think their places in the squad are secure now!). Will be interesting to see if he keeps golden balls as captain (certainly can't see him dropping him).
Hope I'm wrong but just have a feeling this could turn into another Taylor, Keegan disaster.

i personally dont give a flying feck how we qualify as long as we do, the facts are hes only lost 3 competetive matches while in charge, and if it stays at 3 it means we would of won the world cup this year

Come on Riv, Keegan got the job because no one else wanted it, at least he had the balls to step down.Riviera wrote:qualified for 2 world cups and euro's, yeah sven is sh*teSashaBlue wrote:he assisted in the crap we have seen under eriksson so i expect more of the same.Riviera wrote:got the england job then

well i do give a feck, i don't appreciate my Northern irish half of my family p*ss taking me because Sven couldn't even motivate them enough to play against a mediocre team.

Indeed. To say that Sven hasn't done a fantastic job is just pure bollocks. The statistics speak for themselves. What we are looking for now is someone to take us from contenders into winners. Before Sven we were rarely contenders - now we are considered more or less automatic qualifyers, like Italy & Germany.
Not sure if McLaren is the man, Scolari certainly was but that's water under the bridge. However Mclaren has the advantage of having worked under Sven and hopefully has an opinion about what could have been done even better.
We will see. Certainly a miles better choice than Curbishley or Big Sam anyway & may get more credentials next week.

to be honest their wont be much change, hes been in svens shaddow now for tooo long and will only keep mostly the same style of play players ect, which i personally think is wrong, instead of moving forward england will have gone sideways, as their will not be any thing new as quite frankly sven feeded mostly of Steve any ways.
Plus people backing sven saying he got us to two major tournerments, well quite frankly, micky mouse could get us to them tournerments with the players sven inherited, our squad is one of the best in the world, and any one who doesnt qaulify with them players is rubbish.

Well i for one am quite pleased Mclaren has got the Job.
He seemed to be the best of the bunch, with O'neil diasappearing off the radar, and id rather big sam didnt get it. Whether scolari was offered the job or not, it shouldnt have been him, as half the country were against him already, and after all the work the FA did to get english managers into the international management scene.
I think Mclaren will do a good job.
And those who arnt chuffed with him, He will probably be hounded out of the job this time next year anyway

Where im working at the moment im working with hundreds of Boro supporters and they are all happy to see the back OF McClaren even thoe hes got them too the UEFA cup final!!
He just doenst seem to have the get up and go in him they reckon. They feel very lucky to have had two games like they have had at home in the UEFA cup and will never happen again.
For me time will only tell how good he is,ok hes English and come on the idea of being a manger is results as we all know.
Can see Downing in the England Team much regular now thoe for may be Joe Cole?
