With Owen and Rooney injured we have to look to Crouch, Walcott and Lennon to score the goals and how many have they amassed this season ? Crazy not to have Defoe or bent proven goalscorers.

Yeah sorry just started another thread which basically saythat it is a stupid decision. If Owen and Rooney were fully fit then mayby take Theo for the experience but please, he wasnt even a regular in the Southampton team let along getting near the pitch for arsenal.

GAH i have just heard Sven say the reason Shaun Wright -Phillips is not in the back up list is because Sven has chosen the best players for NOW! HOw is he better than Walcott? Just shows us Sven is a moron.

Absolutely shocked... Bent is not even in the reserves.

Cant believe Sven, he has got this totally wrong.

So we have Rooney and Owen who are injured, then Crouch who hardly scores and Theo who hasnt even played a game for Arsenal in the premiership, let alone a World Cup game. But we'll leave Bent out.

Stupid Sweddish idiot!!!!!

Sven is a mentalist. 4 strikers. Rooney, very doubtful if he'll play at all, Owen, hasn't played regular footy for ages and could crock again any minute. Walcott, never made a senior appearance and Crouch. Oh well, it will save on the hotel bill in Germany when they all leave early.

f**king gutted

Bent is not even on the standby list. Defoe and Johnson are the 2 forwards on it.

worst squad decision ive ever seen  Id like to see how he justifys the selection of Theo Walcott who cant even get in Arsenals team ahead of Bent and Defoe and even Johnson who have played a whole season and the found the back of the net on a regular basis

I wonder how much influence McClaren may have had in the choice of the squad?
I know Sven is supposedly picking it but if McClaren said he was going to include walcott in his future squads if this had any bearing on the matter.
Well I guess we can't say they Sven has been over cautious this time!

you know what they say, paybacks are hell....sven is intentionally letting England suffer throught this world cup...he should have been sacked in january....walcott,andy johnson...get real.. and stork boy crouch is even worse of a selection,a 6ft 7 incch journeyman over 22 goal top english scorer BENT.....THIS REALLY BITES

Sven is a fooking tw*t.

Why take a player who has never even started in the premiership, is languishing in Arsenals reserves and has scored 5 goals in half a season in the championship over a player who is the leding english striker in the premiership. Andy johnson is also above Bent, but has scored 15 goals this season in the champinship to bents 22 in the premiership.

Sven is a media puppet, it was in the past few days that walcotts name was even mentioned. He is too much of a coward to make his own decision, so makes the same ones as before and the ones that the media have been touting.

Taking hargreaves is a joke too. Has done sweet FA for england in the past and has been injured for most of the season.

Aaron leanon. Who the F**k is he ? " he has pace " so do i, but im not in the england squad. He has only just broken into the tottenham team.

So we are taking 2 crocks, a beanpole and a player with no premiership experience as a squad to the worldcup. Shocking

A tenner says we wont get past the group stages :( Thank god the swede is pissing off after this summers probable farce. I was looking forward to it yesterday.

Why take Hargreaves when Nolan has been in comanding form for Bolton all season? Hes played in the Uefa Cup and scores goals, Hargreaves is does what exactly?

Grrr, this makes me angry. I only have to watch Match of the Day at the weekends to see whos performing and whos not, what has Sven been watching for him to pick Andy Johnson over Darren Bent  or even Marlon Harewood or Jermaine Defoe? Seriously this Swede has just cost us the World Cup.

Im very pissed off with this thing.

Carson should have been in having done very well at Sheff Wed and did well at Liverpool when he played. Green has been injured most of the season.

Aaron Lennon, not as good as SWP imo however I dont even think Downing should be in, hes been sh*te recently. Just cause hes the only 'naturally' left-footed player. Bridge is a good enough left-midfielder as cover.

Hargreaves, no way he should be in. Absolute rubbish. King should definately have replaced him.

I dont even think they should have taken Rooney, its clear he'll not play and really risks injury as there will be so much pressure to start him early.

WALCOTT! The most overrated player ever. Considering what hes done, which happens to be nothing, how the hell can he warrant a place in the England WORLD CUP team. Somebody said that it would be good for him to take him as Brazil did in '94 ('look at how he turned out') but at that time Ronaldo was amazing and had proven himself. We cannot afford to take such a risk when we have 1! other fit striker.
ANDREW JOHNSON (Crystal Palace)
Our scouting report on Johnson

The pacy Palace striker has not set The Championship on fire as it was expected, but with other English strikers failing to fire his 17 goals are enough for a standby berth.
Have you not been covering the Premiership this season bbc? I never realised they were so biased

Nicked from TWTD

Former Town striker Darren Bent has not been included in Sven-Goran Eriksson's provisional squad for this summer's World Cup in Germany. Charlton frontman Bent is not even amongst the players on standby.

Bent's non-appearance at the World Cup will mean the Blues have no chance of gaining the £200,000 payable by the Addicks after each of his first two competitive internationals until next season and the European Championship qualifiers.

The 22-year-old admitted his omission was a blow: "I am obviously really disappointed. I wasn't taking anything for granted and knew that it was by no means certain that I would be included, but being the leading English goalscorer in the Premiership I was very hopeful of being included.

"All I can do now is go away on holiday, recharge my batteries and look forward to next season."

Eriksson has named just four strikers in his squad: Wayne Rooney, Michael Owen, Peter Crouch and Arsenal youngster Theo Walcott.

Provisional squad: Robinson (Tottenham), James (Manchester City), Green (Norwich), G Neville (Manchester United), Ferdinand (Manchester United), Terry (Chelsea), Cole (Arsenal), Campbell (Arsenal), Carragher (Liverpool), Bridge (Chelsea), Beckham (Real Madrid), Carrick (Tottenham), Lampard (Chelsea), Gerrard (Liverpool), Hargreaves (Bayern Munich), Jenas (Totenham), Downing (Middlesbrough), J Cole (Chelsea), Lennon (Tottenham), Rooney (Manchester United), Owen (Newcastle), Crouch (Liverpool), Walcott (Arsenal). Standby: Scott Carson (Liverpool), Luke Young (Charlton), Nigel Reo-Coker (West Ham), Jermain Defoe (Tottenham), Andy Johnson (Crystal Palace).

Sven is a total tw*t  ...thats from me btw !!!

My mate's analysis of the 4 strikers in the squad...

One who is dead, one who is halfdead, a kid and a giraffe...

Absolute madness!

Is Sven now working for the Swedish FA?

But you're missing the positives Toby, atleast we have 3 keepers in the squad and one on stand by...

Our only hope is that Sven knows something we dont (but I doubt it) maybe Owen's or even Rooneys injuries are not as bad as we are led to believe?? Still no excuse for including Hargreaves  I would prefer to see Nolan or even Barton despite him being such a chav scumbag.

This is why you don't want a foreign England manager.

Useless AGAIN from Sven.

So glad he's going to be fcuking off after the World Cup. His squad, team, formation, substitue, tactics decisions are a joke!

I was sooo angry earlier, Theo Walcott?? Yea he's talented, but he has no experience and with Rooney most likely to miss alot of the World Cup, and Owen still having problems with hsi fitness due to injury i think its a ridiculous decision. Both Bent and Defoe have proved that they can score in the Premiership, and both have actually started for England in friendlies. Bent has prooved himself at U21's - soemthign walcott has also not accomplished, which makes you wonder why on earth he's sudddenly appeared in the team. Lennon has played well this season and deserves it, Hargreaves is always flippin picked and goodness knows why, he's as much good as a chocolate tea pot. Shaun Wright Philips shoudl have been given a chance aswell, to not include either himself or Bent, and to not even put them as standby is awful. Yea Wright Phillips hasn't played that many games this season - but he's played a heck of alot more than Walcott.

Is it possible that Sven has done this to get his own back at the FA. They haven't treated him well and this could be a way of telling them to f*ck off!
The only thing is he's also taken it out on the millions of fans across the country aswell. :?
