Good result against a side looking for promotion, at least Macgoaldrought/sick note didn't score

Happy with that but it could have been so much better we just need something from the next two.😋

Town played so bloody well today. Im SO proud of them. If we keep this style of play and never say die attitude, we will not go down.

My MOM today was the outstanding 19year old (yes, just 19yrs old), Chalobah. I said after the Stoke game he played well. Well today he put in a stunning performance. I’d give him 10/10, he was that good IMHO.

And a mention for Ellis....WHAT A BLOODY STRIKE!!!! Don’t miss it when the highlights get shown.

I hate to say it but Chalobah’s performance has improved since Scuse became injured, is this coincidence or has Lambert set us up differently since his injury.

MacGoaldrought! Nice!

Delighted with the 1-1....... excellent result. Well done Lambo & Troops.

And well done also to Fortuna Düsseldorf away at Hannover....... 1-0 win with the goal in the 92nd minute. What a bounce that must’ve been for the Fortuna friends of Ipswich Town FC.

Got game highlights some time recent. Perhaps a point was fair on both teams. It's hard down there scrapping for your lives and they got eyes on a promotion opportunity. No sign of a Blue Mike match report thus far to ascertain extensive information but a point keeps certain momentum going and other scores went our way in and around the bottom three by all accounts. Will attempt to provide game spots for the benefit of others yet to have an insight of what occurred out there.

Really happy with that result. For sure SU had loads of chances but we stuck in there and this is a key to staying up in my opinion. Results above us all going our way again too. Another point at QPR please on boxing day.

It's not coincidence - just that he's free of Skuse' negative influence

happy enough with the result, BUT...………….

WTF was Chambers doing for their goal? Absolutely dire defending again.

The secret to Town somehow staying up is picking up vital points in games where little return is expected and where we are pretty much second best, this we did yesterday against a very fluent Sheffield Utd side who for me dominated the game for large spells and looked a really good footballing outfit. to our credit we reduced them to having only Three attempts on target the whole game, the same as ourselves in actual fact and keeper Dean Gerken only had a couple of saves to make throughout the Ninety minutes. It certainly wasn't all One way traffic either as at times some of our passages of play were really impressive to watch.

It was the visitors who took the game by the scruff of the neck from the off and were playing some lovely pass and move stuff, at times in the early minutes Town seemed to be chasing shadows and were finding it tough to get the ball. As early as the second minute Deano had to make one of the few saves he was going to be called upon to execute as Billy Sharp's effort was somehow cleared away. Town's defence were already being called upon to make some vital tackles and blocks which they were up to, Pennington in particular always seemingly in the right place at the right time to avert danger. that man Sharp thought he had put them ahead but was way offside much to the relief of Town fans.

Town were really finding it hard to get out of their own half at times with Sears & Edwards seeing little of the ball, Harrison too had been starved of any kind of service, in Midfield Chalobah was really on his game and was the One driving force in Town's team, winning tackles and using the ball well whenever he got it, he seemed to be all over the place and was having a good game, Nolan too was nipping in to dispossess Sheffield players on more than one occasion and generally looked up for it, by contrast young Dozzell was struggling to get into the game at all and was pretty much a periphery figure. Much of Town's work was having to be done by an overworked defence as Sheffield pushed forward in style at will.

The final Ten minutes or so of the first half was Town's best by some distance, first off a great crossfield ball from Edwards almost had Sears through, unfortunately it just had a bit too much on it and it ran away to safety, moments later however captain Chambers headed home but the whistle had long since been blown for climbing, all the same it was a positive sign. That positivity was soon to turn to sheer euphoria as we somehow grabbed the lead, Harrison picking up the ball just outside the box before a hitting a drive which seemed to bend, curl and twist in the air as it sailed over Henderson and into the far corner of the net, what a strike it was for his first Town goal. Town's best player by a distance, Chalobah picked up a yellow card which at the time had me thinking this was a red waiting now waiting to happen as the way he plays is always open to a lunging tackle or something. Town were to see out the half on the front foot and having soaked up a lot of pressure from Sheffield had weathered the storm to get a bit of a foothold in the game.

Fans were still returning to their seats after HT when the visitors got themselves level, a peach of a ball from Norwood had Chambers in no man's land and there was the predator Sharp to head home, it was so simple but effective and a real early blow to Town's hopes of a surprise result. It seemed to stir Town into action ans Three or Four corners in quick succession came our way and a scramble or two ensued in the Sheffield box, Sears managed to get on the end of one but his shot was charged down while the others were defended pretty well by the Sheffield defence. With the game entering the final Third it was the Blades who stepped it up and started coming forward looking for a winner, time and time again Town failed to clear their lines and were starting to drop deeper and deeper, not through choice but because they were being forced back.

Annoyingly Town once or twice found themselves through in really good positions but Sheffield were cynically bringing players down and pretty much getting off without a caution, the freekicks came to nothing when the original situation was a good one for Town. A great block from Harrison was almost as important as his goal as the shot looked goal bound, Town were standing up well to what was being thrown at them with Chalobah, Nolan, Pennington and Chambers all doing some real graft, Knudsen & Spence were bust too and at times Spence in particular was finding it tough but they were giving their all to keep Sheffield out. To our credit we still looked strong and still looked to break when we could, we did get up for a corner or two towards the end but it just would not drop for us. thankfully we saw out the dying moments without too much drama to earn ourselves a very important point.

Yes we were second best for spells and yes they played the brighter and more threatening football but as we all know this Town side is young and inexperienced and this type of performance should not be dismissed lightly, they dug in and went toe to toe with a promotion contender, that in itself is reason to be optimistic, with the results rolling in from elsewhere it was plain to see that this was very much a point gained and reduces the gap even further, I had us down for nothing in my survival plan so it is very much game on, on to QPR where a similar outcome should not be beyond us.

Gerken..(6) Did nothing wrong and no chance with goal, delivered when called upon.

Spence...(5) A bit of a tough afternoon but not through his own misgivings, tried hard all game.

Pennington...(7) Our best defender, a game doesn't seem to go by without this lad coming up with a fantastic last ditch tackle, getting better and better.

Chambers...(6) Caught out for the goal but aside from that put himself about in both boxes, Sharp was a real handful

Knudsen...(6) Steady if unspectacular from Jonas, definitely gives it everything, oh for a bit more quality.

Edwards...(5) Gwion has to be aware of the second passage of play, it's pass and move not pass and stand still to watch the game unfold, gives away possession so many times.

Dozzell...(5) Wasn't a great day for Dozzell, struggled to see much of the ball and when he did failed to make it count, Downes better option right now.

Nolan...(6) That is Three games in a row where I think Nolan has done well, much of it goes unnoticed but he won a lot of vital ball with his closing down etc.

Chalobah...(8) MOTM again for me, is rising to the challenge of filling in for Skuse, everyone know's I rate Skuse so the biggest compliment I can pay is that we haven't missed him anywhere near as much as I thought we would, that's down to Trevoh's performances.

Sears...(6) A bit of a quiet one for Freddie although he did have a part in Town's goal, had a half chance second half but that was it.

Harrison...(7) Great to see him back, competes for everything and chases down lost causes, a corker of a goal to open his account, good defensive work too.

SUBS :-

Ward..(5) Not a game changer for me and really offers little, sent on to help see the game out.

Roberts..(5) Little time to make an impact and barely touched the ball.
