Karanka leaves Forest

This is good news for Town, clubs are more likely to employ him rather than Lambert.

ive often failed to see the appeal of Karanka, he seems the type to play fairly mundane stuff. OK so his Forest side were in a 5-5 draw this season along with 3-3 at Norwich but at home they often seemed uninspiring. When he was at Middlesbrough the moment he got them to the Premier League he went completely negative and it was terrible to watch, even just the odd game on TV.

Have to say hes probably a decent enough manager at this level though, wonder who Forest have got their eye on, I would guess someone from abroad.

Would seem strange timing given his now ex-employers are on the verge of a play-off opportunity. Could understand if the team were in our position or in a real situation but deciding to up and leave as it has would appear questionable. Guess he had an issue with the owners / directors and the position became untenable.

Did OK for a time but essentially a small fish in small waters. Achieved almost hero status at Middlesbrough but maybe fell away towards the end. One of those no-thrills names, critically acclaimed but forever on a plateau of adequate level. Should be back in work some time soon although has to be said believe never considered for the position here (as and when it became available)

I think there’s been an under current at Forest for a while which started when Forest went through a sticky December, after beating us on the 1 December they went the rest of the month without a win which included two home defeats to Preston and QPR and it was rumoured that Karanka would be sacked ahead of the home fixture v Leeds United on New Years Day which Forest won 4-2. This result made it very difficult for the Board to justify sacking him as did his popularity with the fans. After the game he was hailed as a hero and he publicly spoke of his passion for the club and desire to see out his contract which I think still had 2 years to run. I’m not sure what’s gone on this week but it’s reported that he asked to be released from his contract which suggests more fall outs at the Forest Ground where the club will now look to appoint their 11th full time manager since June 2011. In fact 2010/11 season was the last time Forest started and ended the season with the same manager !.

Looks like Martin O'Neil and Roy Keane are in line as a pairing.
