QUOTE: When appointing a manager you accept there will be periods when he does well and there will be periods where it doesn’t go well.
END QUOTE.

Doesn’t EVER want to put blame on his managers eh? So it’s your feckin fault, Marcus! What you talking about? Things don’t just go tits up for the sake of it.

Sort of joking there, ^^^^ , no time to read it all as yet but so far it’s a decent interview with a few areas of waffle.

I have quite often slated Marcus Evans and I believe there has been adequate reason to do that. However I do appreciate this interview and I do believe in what he says in it, I get the impression he is being sincere in this. Its good that hes done this with EADT so they are not scripted by the club, in theory I do believe that the strategy he has for us can work and I can see where his thinking is. It sounds like he has learnt that leaving EVERYTHING to the manager doesn't work, he recognizes that the relationship between Mick and the fans really then meant that the club had lost its way with supporters, in my opinion he should have noticed this much sooner than he did but I appreciate that hes reflecting on this as something that needs rectifying.

I don't blame him for not pumping in tens of millions, but doing interviews like this and really letting us know his thoughts is a big step forward, most of what he says makes sense and hopefully with Paul Lambert here we can start building bridges on and off the pitch. I like having a club strategy regardless of who the manager is, equally he says that if a manager doesn't buy into the club ethos they wont be managing here. We should also have this approach for playing staff, bring players in that fit us and suit the way we want to play. The only bit I don't agree with him on is when we were top on boxing day 2014, I really think that was a time when a few million investment would have been a worthwhile risk, I don't like that he said we should just throw the Southampton cup game, especially when we had a full house for that match.

Im really looking forward to next season, I expect that to be League one but with a new approach from ME and having PL in place I think we can really start to put this club back together and have some better times ahead.

Really good interview.

Have always been incredulous when reading on other sites the ongoing “tax dodge” argument, anyone in business knows a loss is loss. You don’t actually qualify for any tax offsets unless you have actually made a loss in the first place.

Perhaps his choice of managers has been questionable, I have often wondered why he has not been more hands on until recently. I guess when you are approaching 100 million quid in debt it does make you focus a bit more.

Interesting the comments around Christmas time 2014 when we were in with a chance.

Worth a full read in my opinion.

Excellent interview and for me confirms all this crap about tax evasion is just that. I think he is completely genuine and honest but has made massive mistakes along the way by having to much faith in others. Like some I have never been of the opinion that he is bad for ITFC.

The Titanic will reach New York before you'd be able to take in the amount of information presented and seeing as time is short shall have to review another time but one or two points that will arise such as why has it taken eleven years for Evans to participate in an interview with a media organization / never has spoken out with the regularity you would expect of someone with an ownership capacity.

Never could take to him, some will be resolute in their decision irrespective of whatever interviews he decides to partake. All merely words with no real action undertaken. He may be sincere in his intentions and means well but during eleven years here what the f*ck has the club been up to since he took ownership. We've achieved next to nothing, other than fall away considerably since Sheepshanks vacated and season after season of mid-league obscurity / manager after manager as inept and incompetent as the other.

Will give it a second opinion when time permits itself but got an intransigent distaste to the individual. The club requires actions, not words and explanation. Feel the need to apologize on someone's behalf but why the f*ck should I. Been with it every step of the way give or take and it's been mediocre. (He) has to be primary culpable for the deficiencies of this club since arriving in.

Fair enough. His explanations seem intelligent and honest. I do wish the FA would come up with some kind of protections for homegrown talent. I don't like the lack of control over our Academy players...but that's not ME's fault. I like that he's decided to be more involved with the operations of the club without standing on the feet of the manager. I don't like, but understand his lack of investment that many of us would like to see. He's explained how that would create an unsustainable business model.

I've been vocal about my disdain for Mr Evans, and I am beginning to accept that a lot of what's happened to our club wasn't entirely within his control. On the surface like many of us, Roy Keane seemed like an exciting and auspicious appointment at the time. Paul Jewell was probably given the reigns as an act of desperation. McCarthy worked well within ME's business plan, but MM's biggest mistake was turning on the fans. Most of us agreed that Hurst was an exciting prospect who could take our club in a different direction. And finally, I'm very satisfied with Paul Lambert coming in to guide us through the next chapter.

All we can really do is hope for the best.

For me, I’m trying to stand in the middle ground and see both sides of the Mevans “like / dislike” thing.

At the end of the day, he is a successful businessman and speaks as if Ipswich Towns best interests are at heart. Which should make the fans feel happy.

But I’m wondering how I’d be feeling, with a borderline recluse owner and facing Scottish League One as a Hibs fan. Hmmm. I think I’d be a tad more, “GET IT FKING SORTED”-ish.
I mean only an idiot would’ve thought ITFC were heading to the EPL with what Mick had to work with.

But even with Mick, Hurst or Lambo, at least break a few rules to stay in the division. Not saying do a Derby but FFS. But I’m not saying that now, that’s how I viewed it pre-window.

Hopefully with less headless chicken defending and Quaner replicating Daryl, his three thousand, four hundred and sixty eight point plan can continue.

I pretty much agree with all of this.

Rename this thread to ME , the big waste of space. His pkan will never work, its obvious after ten years. Even my 2 year old has learnt that if you keep doing things wrong you will never get it right!!
