Eagles player Andrew Gaff punched a young player last season, teeth out, broken jaw, ...... banned for the remainder of the season and was top of the MAIN headline news (not just sport) for weeks. Publicly humiliated. I fear for that guy this forthcoming season which starts next month. Hoping no one tries to take him out the game.

On a field of play or not it's assault, I would be sueing for sure.

No pay, I’m pretty sure that would work but I guess most players contracts are pretty watertight to prevent that happening.
