I think the guy is brilliant, probably our best captain, certainly off the field. I think it is underestimated what his role behind the scenes bring to the club, it is summed up by Jack Lankester when he speaks about how important it is to have someone they can go to when things aren't right etc, these kids are our future and if they weren't happy here they would without question move on, Chambers role in making them feel happy is major in terms of them not wanting away.

The bit i liked the most is when he said "if we won 20 games in row and I was not playing in, i would still be happy ". So would i Mr Chambers. Because the only way we will ever win 20 in row is indeed when your not playing.

A little harsh, but i do agree to a degree. Whilst chambers role at the club goes without question i do feel this season hes been caught out numerous times , our defensive record speaks for itself. However i think his exprience will shine in league 1 and its good to keep him a little longer. If town had stayed up this year i think he may have been replaced next season and just played a bit part in the team.derick_ipsw wrote: ↑Tue Mar 26, 2019 5:42 pmThe bit i liked the most is when he said "if we won 20 games in row and I was not playing in, i would still be happy ". A brilliant club captain and a quality individual. I do agree that he is a limited player but his positive influence at the club is incalculable.

Fair play to Chambo.... genuinely a great bloke and great club man. Very impressive reports from ex-colleagues.
If we’ve still got a healthy atmosphere and positivity around the club... then it’s not only down to Lambert, but Chambo must be given lots of credit. Top bloke and can imagine him unblocking toilets at 2am in his annexe.
I can see where Derrick is coming from, though. Is he a far better Club captain than Team Captain? Just want to see not only 200% effort from him, but for his leadership and experience on the field to cut out all the stupid goals we give away.
Look forward to seeing him giving plenty of fist pumps next season.... let’s hope.

Or flushing stuff away at 2am in the annexe while the street flashes blue. Got to trust the “captain” to look out for the youngsters and to do the right thing.
Academy youngster: You’re due me 500 quid for the Pepsi you d1ckhead.
Chambo: what? Yer lucky yer not in jail this morning
Academy youngster: yeah, whatever. 500 quid after training.

I was thinking more of Academy youngster calling Chambo and saying “ Jack has done his brown anaconda trick again”, whereby Chambo says” Ill get the plunger and me spanner’s”.marko69 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2019 12:09 pmOr flushing stuff away at 2am in the annexe while the street flashes blue. Note: Didn’t realise Pepsi was drug terminology till now. “Word on the street” would be wasted on me.

Well, I wouldn’t know about any terminology but I do know A LOT of youngsters take the rival version of Pepsi cola nowadays and it’s not a drink. Can’t speak for Ipswich but it’s serious in Edinburgh.
Tang (whispers) : you got the Pepsi?
Ice cream van man (whispers): only diet. Ive got Fanta?

I see the EFL has announced it's end of season award shortlists.derick_ipsw wrote: ↑Tue Mar 26, 2019 5:42 pmThe bit i liked the most is when he said "if we won 20 games in row and I was not playing in, i would still be happy ". Championship Team of the Year includes no Ipswich players - so it seems that there is at least one team in which Chambers and Skuse are not nailed-on to start

TBH... He might need to keep his hand in off the pitch, as he hasn’t had too much fist-pump action on the pitch this season.derick_ipsw wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2019 12:56 pmWhat worries me is Chambo fist pumping all these youngsters in his Annex!!
