Adeyemi comeback for the under 23’s

Tom Adeyemi will play tonight for the under 23’s.

There is a thread on TWTD about him ... and I’m astonished that many still want his one year extension to be triggered.

I can’t help feel being two years out and never having done anything at this club it’s an easy decision to say goodbye. To be honest, I would like us to bring an experienced midfielder in who can win 50-50’s and bully opposition ( rather than our midfield being bullied), but don’t think Adeyemi’s the one.

Would have thought it’s a no-brainer to part company with him and our medical staff.

Only at ITFC something like this might be considered.
Perhaps our new nickname should be crocks r us. Ffs Town how many injury prone players do we want to have on our books?

Not directly related to Adeyemi, but so far with 4 games remaining we’ve used 37 or 38 players this season.( I miscounted once or twice and can’t be arsed to check again).

That’s far too many players. And that’s without Huws or Adeyemi. The loans will go, but we’re going to have to trim the squad much more for a League 1 budget and having injury-prone players should be something to be avoided. I like Will Keane, but I think he’s too much of an injury risk if we’re considering taking him on. I wouldn’t play Adeyemi in the under 23’s just in case he has a blinder and gets a new deal on the basis of that. Sure as sh*t he’ll be injured next season.

Well he has just scored.

Unfortunately U23's being absolutely spanked by Forest. 4-1 at the moment!

Watched the first half and he was the worst player on the pitch. Slow and overweight. Offered nothing in either end until the goal.

I left the game at half time . Seen enough. Not sure that it was the usual U23 side actually. I was informed by the bloke sitting next to me
( who didn’t shut up for the WHOLE 45mins! I was giving up the will to live by ht!!) He wasn’t even watching the game for most of the game

I didn’t even notice Adeymi if I’m being honest.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Town offload ALL the long term injured players who are out of contract and any other players out of contract who are fringe players.

I think we have 48 players on payroll- 6 are loanees , meaning we have 42 Town players covering all professional contracted players.

Lambert will probably want to off load half of those. It might be easier to say who will be staying !!!

Correct Liz : clear the deadwood now and start afresh, get rid of loans send them back to their respective clubs, PL must build from our youth upwards, any players on contracts that will struggle for team selection sell on, we can always add good quality freebee's as necessary, we now have a super opportunity to rebuild a squad that will challenge for honours next season. COYB :D :D

Hmmm isn't that what Paul Hurst did?

Just sayin'

I don’t think we’ll be getting rid of that many players.... just the obvious ones whose contract is up. (Spence, Adeyemi, Knudsen, Collins, Dawkins, Ward, Gerken). Maybe offload Rowe and Roberts as freebies.

You always know when it’s getting near season end when the phrase “get rid of the deadwood” creeps out once again. This time it’s a bit different.... we’ve pretty much already got a ready-made League 1 squad. Wont know if it’s a good League 1 side till next season, but I wouldn’t expect too many unfamiliar faces at the start of next season.

Didn’t he clear out some championship players and replace with league one players, hence it’s where Ipswich Town now are ———> League One? Predicted by a buddy in September 2018.

Unfortunately he didn't clear out Championship players, they all wanted to leave for differing reasons.

Don't mean to say it's the bloke's fault, must be horrible to be genuinely injured, but 5 games in 2 years and a hell of a lot of money dumped on him. Perhaps he should offer to take a drastic pay cut for year, then maybe, otherwise absolutely no way.

Also as much as it could just be Hurst being a d*ck, he did say this about Adeyemi...

Paul Hurst expressed his frustration over Adeyemi's injuries but claimed that it was time to "grit his teeth", also stating "There's obviously something (an injury) there but there's another player in the squad that has something very similar who has trained every day. [...] We all have different pain thresholds but I’m wanting people I can rely on and go to war with."

So perhaps he hasn't done all he could have to get in the right shape and head space, finding out above that a 27 year old professional footballer looked overweight is also wildly unacceptable and shows his character. I feel for Huws and want him to come good, but Adeyemi can do one.

I’ll give Adeyemi the benefit of the doubt regarding his attitude, but no reason for us to give him another contract. He’s spent two seasons out of the game and who knows what player he is now... and that’s both physically and mentally.

As for Huws, he’s spent pretty much all his career struggling with injuries. Surely that must have been a consideration when we signed him, but ended up giving him a four year contract. I really can’t see him playing pro football again. A half game of under 23’s football once every few months ... how can we believe he can be fit to play competitive football. I don’t blame the lad, but don’t feel for him as he must have made millions so far in the game where most of the time he’s unfit. That has to soften the blow. If he can’t guarantee his fitness, we should try and tie up his contract at the end of the season.
