In Case You'd Forgotten

Seems it were overlooked but today is the 20th anniversary of the passing of one Alf Ramsey. Easy to miss with all that's going on within the club set-up right now but for a man of that integrity, you got to provide the requisite plaudits.

This was an individual that not only took this club to second league champions in 1961, but the incredible Championship win a year after. People go on about the Leicester City victory two or three years back, but in hindsight I believe what we accomplished would arguably eclipse it.

Then you got the English World Cup win four years on for good measure. You know, for all the sh*t that this club has endured with inept managers and owners in recent years, to acknowledge one that not only supplied a Champions of England honor (that may never be repeated) to Ipswich Town Football Club and with it, the highest accolade you can achieve in World "football", it deserves unparalleled praise and acknowledgement.

You could talk and describe Ramsey for hours but unfortunately time won't permit it. One way to describe the man was a beacon of light within this club name amid a host of garbage and failed appointments. Say again It's highly unlikely another name can ever duplicate a top level Championship win at Portman Road, at least not in our lifetimes.

Rest in Peace. 1/20/20 - 4/28/99
