Re: Transfer Rumours Thread 2019/20 Season
As I posted the other day his finish was top notch against Forest Green and I would have some of that, I think the very fact we are the favourites to sign the highest scorer in the country speaks volumes of the intent to get this mess sorted out asap and so early too, I just hope the deal is concluded and no last minute "hitches" rear their ugly heads. There were concerns by some that we would not be able to compete in the transfer market with the likes of Fleetwood Town and considering they too are interested in Norwood would hopefully hit that nonsense on the head.

Norwood’s goals video collection looks pretty impressive.
Doesn’t seem big, but looks pretty physical and good in the air. Maybe more like Robert Fleck than a Grant Holt. He seems a pest who doesn’t give defenders much breathing space.
Based on his goals, I would have thought even Championship clubs would be interested. Be good to get this sealed... show of intent and no messing around.

I believe he is 5 ft 9ins looks good with head and either foot and takes pens (if we ever get any ) a step up for him I know but if he gets the service I would hope he could score close to 20 goals next season.

I can really see Bart going and I think with the club’s best wishes. Just hope Gerken’s not here to take over the number 1 shirt. Capable GK, but still isn’t great at dealing with crosses and I don’t think his kickings much better than Bart’s. You don’t build a team or a style of play around GK’s, so surely we can ship these two out a bring in 1 or 2 without affecting the team that much.hallamblue wrote: ↑Wed May 15, 2019 4:54 pmThing is Phil Ham rarely posts an article about something unless it’s very high on a completed status.

Wouldn’t worry me in the least if Bart leaves - just get a good price! He’ll definitely want to leave despite the tripe he came out with a week of two ago .

I like the look of Pym a free agent from Exeter with over 160 games played at only 24 years of age but it seems we have other targets.

I’d say there’s some mileage in the Exeter GK joining . He fits the profile .
Young - “for further development”
Free / out of contract - low wages compared to current GK’s

This has resurfaced again a player we tried to sign when he was at QPR.

Oh just noticed it says permission to offer him attractive wage package so forget this then can't be true.

You say that Kerry, but if you think about it, it might not be that much of a stretch.Kerry Blue wrote: ↑Thu May 16, 2019 2:50 pmKerry Blue wrote: ↑Thu May 16, 2019 2:44 pmhttps://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/footbal ... town-53014

No Transfer fee to pay = better pay packet also this bit stood out to me
"The Scot, whose side were relegated from the second tier last term,
is understood to be confident of acquiring Washington's services after receiving permission to offer him an attractive wage package.
The striker's family home in Cambridgeshire is also within commuting distance of Suffolk."
with his family nearer to us does make it more attractive

Agree I was just taking the P out of Town with the resources we are likely to have this season.K L Blue wrote: ↑Thu May 16, 2019 4:36 pmYou say that Kerry, but if you think about it, it might not be that much of a stretch.Kerry Blue wrote: ↑Thu May 16, 2019 2:50 pmKerry Blue wrote: ↑Thu May 16, 2019 2:44 pmhttps://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/footbal ... town-53014

Only just read your reply - supporting since 1974 through thick and thin. I occasionally post but best I just view this forum from now onwards! Despite my comment, I wish the forum all the best and enjoy seeing other posters views. Coybhallamblue wrote: ↑Sat May 11, 2019 8:31 amDoobs: how long have you been following Town ? Sure there was no malice intended. One or two got a bit skeptical over the number of posts over such a length of time. Hell you've had an interest in the club for longer than myself so more power to you. Point being don't allow others to influence a participation.doobs wrote: ↑Thu May 16, 2019 7:28 pmOnly just read your reply - supporting since 1974 through thick and thin. Re: Transfer Rumours Thread 2019/20 Season
Anybody have thoughts about Washington? I know he’s ex QPR and Sheffield UTD but can’t see I’ve seen much of him. Always thought he was more of a wide man than a striker. I would have thought his next move would be in the Championship due to his age and background. If we did persuade him to come here I think that would show real intent, but would have thought he would be out of our reach.

Yes, I was just mucking around......... But let's face it; I think everyone admired Liverpool back in the 70s/80s. They were miles ahead.
I have a brother in law who's from Winchester, supports Man U and hates Liverpool. I always remind the glory hunting bar steward that if he was ten years older, he'd be a Liverpool fan. He hates that old chestnut!

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread 2019/20 Season
Will Keane had been released from his optional year by Hull.
Now.
Do we sign him ( it would a “free” and he’s clearly a quality player and definitely so at League One level)
Or .
Steer well clear ? ( injury history is atrocious)

With regards what he can do it would make sense but wages would be an issue. But in terms of injuries a bit gamble.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread 2019/20 Season
At least Keane gave us an insight during his loanee spell to show his true fitness levels. Huws, however, sucked us in during his loanee spell and has become an expensive liability. Surely, they can put two and two together and work out it’s not worth the risk. We’ve already got Sears, Harrison, Folami and Morriss under contract who have been long-term injured last season. Add in the Walters experience. The game where we had none up front wasn’t tactical... just all our strikers injured. Should be an easy decision given we can’t afford to carry injured players.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread 2019/20 Season
A fair few rumours circulating around Tranmere fans that Salford City are keen on Norwood and prepared to pay big wages... I don't see this as a done deal at all considering he owns a house quite close.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread 2019/20 Season
Well if it’s the money he’s after then Salford City are welcome to him.
Town are lightyears better than Salford City in terms of potential so it should be no competition. If he’s after just big bucks, that’s short lived . The decision is his as they say .

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread 2019/20 Season
With the way both Luton & Lincoln adapted to League 2 after the "VAAAAAAAAAAAAA-NARAMA", might be worth putting a few quid on Salford City winning the league. And if they get John Norwood, they'll probably be among the favourites.
