I think the reason we do so badly with one up front is our style of football. A lone striker needs support and we fail for 2 reasons. The main one is our reliance on long ball which stretches the team over the whole pitch, making it harder for players to get up in support. If we played it through the midfield more we could move up as a team.

Secondly but perhaps less significantly, our central midfielders (both of whom have been our most consistent performers so far) get up to the edge of the box and no further. But its the long ball game that really prevents us playing well with one up front.
