Whats wrong with that? Get that out the way --------> extra week off early January. Players get longer to recover from New Year hangovers.

Even if we had got the bye we would probably still manage to go out.

Surely it doesn’t come much easier than a home draw against a League One team with only win away from home all season (at Rotherham ) and a recent home defeat 0-6 to Oxford United. Lincoln’s only other away point came at Rochdale 1-1.

If we can’t see them off comfortably there’s little point trying to progress to the next round.

Hopefully we can get revenge for the last time we played them in the FA cup.

I wanted an away draw at a new ground not visited before, this is the worst possible draw as it's against a fellow league one side and one that we have played in the cup in recent times, no excitement at all.

You are forgetting we will play a weakened side as damn usual so much depends on Lincoln's approach to it I guess.

I don't think he will play a weakened team, we play Lincoln on the 9th and the Oxford game on the 16th will be off. So he will play a weakened team against Colchester on the 12th.

I think he will. When else will they get to play? I usually want us to field our strongest team but this time I really don't care.

Like I said Colchester on 12th in the FLT Trophy.

True. He might mix and match.....give half of them a run out in each.

I'll be away and will miss it. So I'm not bothered.....although any win is good for confidence.

If you want to build a winning mentality in a football club you have to enter every game wanting to win, setting up to win, and even more important picking a team to win. Anyone who thinks differently isn’t a winner, and increases the chances of losing.

I agree Andy but I bet we don't play anything like a full strength side, very few teams do in cup ties these days which is a shame.

Lincoln again, fucks sake you couldn't make it up. Two games we had are still fresh in the memory, very vivid. That replay loss was arguably the nadir of McCarthy's tenure. Was livid after that game, took things to a new extreme. You realized then what a sh*t set-up we had and just how poor and ineffective the team and management had become.

Moving on a year or two you'd expect things to go our way this time around. Yes we're not going to win the damn competition, may not even still be involved by January, but would hope for a strong starting XI and Lambert viewing it as something of a priority. People say the Cup's a distraction but some would argue the point. The more things you're involved in and something to shoot for the better it is for morale.

Once again no Ipswich team has made it beyond Round Five since 1993. Not really about statistics, just painfully aware of the ineptitude and non-progress show in subsequent years. Been with it the entire time give or take. Doubtful that will change in 2020 but the record is lame there can be no dispute. Many won't give a rat's as* for progress all the same. All focus on promotion and return to second level. You could argue the point do we even need to be in the competition.

I’ve just realised what I said a few days ago now makes no sense whatsoever..........

“Lincoln City had only one away win all season and that was at Rotherham....”mmmmmm

....and after Towns last night defeat at home at the hands of Rotherham, I guess Lincoln City will now come to Portman Road brimming with confidence.
