Its interesting looking from the UK Frosty. Jacinda is seen as a hero, I assume from your comments its not the same from your view? As an ex pat Kiwi myself, I find it interesting that she is held in such high regard here/internationally... but maybe not so much at home??Frosty wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2020 1:20 pmThat’s correct, they are actually two kiwi sisters returning home apparently (we do allow NZ residents back under a 2 week quarantine scenario).
Heads will roll over this, protocols breached, so far believed they may have had over 300 close contacts to be traced.
Still Saint f**king Jacinda will no doubt do nothing about the offenders as per usual.

Easter Road or burglary....... thems the choices. Get the doors open!
Seriously though....... the fitbaw to some is their entire life. Football and others sports have been part of my life...... but it’s not my entire life. Scary sh*t. It’s quite sad as well I suppose.

Agreed. If we had all done that at the beginning.....
The tabloids still bleat on about whether we can holiday abroad. i blame the newspapers for all the world's ills.
I can't think why anyone would want to risk travelling through an airport and on a plane .....assuming you can get travel insurance.....
What it highlights to me is the high risk anyone takes when choosing to take a flight or transit through an airport. I’m surprised too that 300 people are allowed to attend a funeral especially with two attendees are known to have flown in from one of the Worlds Covid hot spots.

PM Ardern is a good leader and a good front person for the country, no argument from me here, although she doesnt resonate with me.
But, the Labour Party she leads is weak, inexperienced and in some areas incompetent.
They are spending money like water in typical socialist fashion.
If our GDP is down 10 bucks, they will find a reason to spend 20 bucks to fix it. What irks me most is that a lot of the spending is under the guise of Covid 19 financial relief/recovery, when quite frankly it's just being used as cover for Labour's social spending initatives.
Governments around the world need to learn their place, they are only guardians of 100's of years of history and built up Sovereign wealth. They do not own the country, nor can they treat it as their own little social experiment.
Ultimately borrowing to spend (excluding needed large infrastructure projects) needs to be paid back and this is where a lot of voters don't think beyond the 'now'.
I would envisage a Labour landslide victory in September due to Arderns popularity and the main opposition party (National) electing a leader who is as inspiring as Joe Biden is for the US Democrats.
It wont be until after the election and the release of the Q2 GDP figures decline that people will really start to see what recession means and the impact on workers such as myself that will be directly or indirectly taxed due to the ill thought out lolly scramble for money that is currently taking place.

Re: Project Restart
Good post Frosty and thanks. Its really interesting to get a more balanced view of things from someone there, and not just the "glorious" image we get of a leader who tackled the Covid situation well. It just shows there are so many more things to think about than the one issue, no matter how massive that issue is.

I've just booked a holiday in September. I need one for my mental health tbh...need a break! So...I do understand why people would travel if possible. And September is still a few months away, can still cancel it all free or charge if needed.Andym wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2020 12:53 pml

Re: Project Restart
Every time you get overly annoyed, Frosty, just google image Boris Johnson. That’ll sort your anger out. David Cameron might do the trick also.
I don’t mean do the trick of just disappearing after a Brexit vote, I mean helping you with your PM anger.

Hey mate, wasn't trying to get into a political debate, if we want to, there's another sub forum for that.
Was just trying to provide a bit of balance as I am aware of the International perception of our PM, but there's more to governing a country than coming across well in front of TV cameras.

Nothing makes sense anymore. Finding out more about myself each and every day when listening to news. Must be a literal thinker and can’t decipher stuff that makes NO FKING SENSE.
Ok to sit in a pressurised tube for 3/4/5 hrs all sitting close to each other, breathing the same air....... but cinemas won’t be opening...... a place where you could practically social distance and its only hour and half/ two hour tops unless it’s a Scorsese movie.
Who the f*ck knows.
But, all for helping with mental health so, enjoy yourself Stuart.

You can where a mask on a plane. Some the sites I have seen with hen nights flying from Liverpool masks should be compulsory. What are we supposed to do? Stop normal life for ever? Things have to change.marko69 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 19, 2020 1:23 pmNothing makes sense anymore. Finding out more about myself each and every day when listening to news. You’ve quoted me Deeko boy so I’ll respond...... You’re missing my point. I said in another thread, or this thread, ..... open everything up, get the economy going...... all for it.
But the point being ...... yes to planes, no to cinemas , yes to this, yes to that, no to this, no to that.... See what I’m saying?
Reminds me of the Lee Evans sketch of cigarette smoke itself knowing where it can and can’t go. Makes no f**king sense.

Re: Project Restart
So much of it is about economic rather than health reasons. The flight issue is to enable reciprocal agreements to allow people to come to England for their holidays. Economically I would have thought it made more sense to stop flights and have us all holiday in the UK.....except of course for the airline industry. It certainly makes health sense to stop people flying from country to country.
At the end of the day i guess we are allowing people to make up their own minds. Unfortunately we possess too much common, too little sense.
