Two bizarre decisions given that both Watford and Huddersfield separately were the best current performing team bar one compared with the bottom seven or eight clubs in each division.

In the Premier League bottom eight only West Ham have collected more points than Watford in their last five games and in the Championship only Luton have collected more points than Huddersfield over the same five games. I can only think in each case there must be other issues not related to team performance.

When you look at Nigel Pearson, Watford were rooted on the bottom of the Table when he took over in January and looked almost certain relegation candidates. He was rumoured to be incentivised with a huge bonus if he kept them in the Premier League and here we are with two games to play albeit v Arsenal (H) and Manchester City (A) but still with every chance of survival.

You think these were bonus-related decisions based on their contracts? The Cowley’s have actually kept Huddersfield up, so they’ve at least achieved that( Huddersfield were 23rd when they took over).

Mike, don’t laugh to soon. If the Cowleys are not in work by November/ December, then they could end up here if Lambo doesn’t get us off to a good start.

The Pearson decision is strange. 2 games left and their under 23 coach has taken over. Pearson’s a volatile character so could be he’s gone into ostrich mode and fallen out with someone.

No Tang, I don’t think these are Bonus related decisions as both Management teams would still have a valid claim for payment. I think there will be other issues that haven’t been published yet and may never surface under their separate compensation settlement agreements.

Maybe Pearson is shagging the owners daughter again.

Tang as for the Cowleys, we won't need them, we won't make the same mistakes again.

Wouldn’t mind Nigel Pearson here. No hope though of course.

I had wanted Watford to survive, but after this sacking ( what a history of hire n fire they have as a club), I actually hope they go down now.

We had a really long run of bad form where Lambert could have turned things around whilst learning lessons .. but didn’t.

I think getting the right squad will be key. It will need more than putting Holy in goal.

Whilst I have very little confidence in Paul Lambert I just don’t see us attracting anyone of higher quality so maybe best sticking with what we’ve got and hope he strikes lucky.

A frank exchange of views the reason for Pearsons sacking apparently.

I suspect it stems back to Pearson dropping the players who were involved in the Covid lock down party. He’s always been strict on discipline and my guess is the owners disagreed with his decision.
