That is a blow. While perhaps not everyone's cup of tea, i think his introduction caused enough of a diversion in the Burton match, so as to allow McGuiness to score. His aerial threat gives us that one thing that none of the other strikers offer.

I agree, we just seem to be pissing in the wind month after month, year after year, getting bored and fed up of the whole thing if I'm honest.

I think Evans is going to get a massive shock when it’s season ticket renewal time in a few weeks time .

Right-back Kane Vincent-Young will be out of action for a further six weeks having suffered a knee problem in training.

The 24-year-old last played a competitive game for the Blues in October last year with two groin operations ending his 2019/20 campaign early.

The former Colchester man returned in pre-season and was involved in early friendlies before suffering an achilles injury which he was close to getting over.

He was back in full training and was due to play in Wednesday’s planned friendly against Brentford’s B team which was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.

However, he hyperextended his knee and will now spend a further six weeks on the sidelines.

Luke’s arrival mean we’re not going to see Kane Vincent-Young this season?

“Really gutted for Kane," first-team coach Matt Gill said as he stood in for manager Paul Lambert at this morning's press conference.

“He’s had a little setback in his rehab or returning to play. I’m so disappointed for Kane as he’s worked so hard to be back in and amongst it and help the squad and help the team.

“But unfortunately he’s had a bit of a setback. These things do happen when you’ve been out for a while and you’ve not played games regularly, you can pick up these little setbacks.

“I’m just really disappointed for Kane because he’s obviously a very good player when he’s playing but he’s also a really great lad.”

He added: "Kane’s setback is a knee injury, so separate to his last one. Like I said before, sometimes when you’ve been out a while you pick up these secondary injuries.

"It’s really disappointing for Kane himself let alone us, but for him, he’s worked so hard to get himself in really good shape.

"But knowing the lad, he’ll put it behind him and get on with his rehab and try and get back as quickly as possible."

Asked whether the one-time Tottenham trainee will be out for the season, Gill added: “Currently we’re looking at a few weeks and obviously we’ll take it from there.

“Obviously it takes a little bit of time to get up to speed once you’re back out on the grass. Currently it’s a few weeks and we’ll just have to manage the situation.”

The signing of another right-back, Luke Matheson, late in the afternoon on deadline day gave an indication thatVincent-Young’s long-awaited return may again have been put on hold.

The Londoner made a huge impression having joined from Colchester for £500,000 in August 2019 but managed only nine games before succumbing to his injury problems.

As I said, he'll never play for us again

Time we got rid him and other sicknotes. He hasnt played since October 2019, but I bet he's been drawing his wages every week. I have no idea of what his contract is worth, but even if he's only on £500 per week then that's a hell of a lot he's been paid for doing absolutely sod-all. Gert rid and make him seek an honest living.

Sorry I’d started another thread re his latest injury.....I couldn’t see this thread need a new pair of these >>>>>🤓

Btw I’m in agreement with your sentiments rossi. These players take the pee most of the time. I agree with Lamberts recent comment this week that the players are in for a rude awakening next summer.

I’m fast falling out of love with the game and Ipswich Town.

I’m assuming the last minute signing of Matteson was because KVY did his knee on Monday. If so, it’s bloody lucky he didn’t injure it on Tuesday onwards. We would have been stuck with Chambers at RB and without a back up.

In some ways, I’m not that bothered. He’s been out 15 months and we should have got to the stage where we plan without him. Could be a bit of luck he broke down when he did so we had time to get Matteson in.

Regarding wages, I may be wrong but I'm not sure anyone expected KVY to be out for so long (if not indefinitely).
However, it could have been foreseen with some other signings. I think Huws' injury record wasn't great. And more obviously, Skuse started picking up regular injuries before his last contract. That was undoubtedly a bad move.

I wouldn’t expect any of our medical team to expect anything. But i ask the question- why keep Donacien as a RB when Lambert had no intention of playing him? Might as well offloaded him in the summer /autumn transfer window and got a specialist RB in that Lambert would play.

I get a good feeling about the kid tbh . I think he's going to be an unintended very astute signing. We juts need to t=get the right team out there on Saturday and in the right formation ....

lets see what PL does with his squad now. fingers crossed we can go on a min run of wins to put us right back in the frame and go into the second half of the season ion the front foot and with some momentum.

I say the club has done very well by securing the Matheson loan in time. As far as KVY, his injury record makes me wonder once again what the medical screening process is for players we purchase.

 I think I might have a solution to avoid and prevent further injuries, like Ham strings, muscle strains, tendon tares, and the general runny nose problems.
Now I don't know what the club physio does prior to training sessions and pre match warm ups BUT it aint working.

I'm going to suggest a completely different way to treating the injured players and the fit ones, firstly the club must install a large community hot tub about a metre deep, very similar to the old fashioned brick baths the whole team used to hot soak in after games, now we all know or should know that if you want to relax and stretch your muscles and tendons properly, you have to go through at least a 30 minuet pre match stretching exercises in a hot communal bath tub, this will prevent muscles tightening up and Ham Strings plus Tendons.

And at the treatment rooms all injured players with hamstrings, back strains, torn or strain calf or thigh muscles can go through this everyday stage of recovery programme, I'm sure this is what is missing at our club, be it an old fashioned way of prevention and curing I can bare witness that this form of pre match or training deep hot bath stretching programmes do work. In my playing days in the 60s I suffered a double achilleas torn tendons when I fell awkwardly after challenging for a high ball, I went through a 12 week recouping and healing programme which included hot tub exercises and manual ligament liniment work on both ankles, But I was back playing within the 12 weeks, not like KVY whom I think had a similar injury and is still on the side-lines.

Anyway the whole point of this statement is the modern treatment is good, but if we can throw in this old way of stretching and exercising before games and training plus as a treatment method I believe we can eradicate a lot of our injuries that our players are suffering.

You all may think this is a load of bollocks but i know better. :D :D

I must say that was every bit as entertaining as an “Ashford F**KING RANT”.,..... and yep, hot water treatment sounds like the business.
I personally do this type of thing with a freezing cold Budweiser in hand, music and interchangable tub lights (at a place in Fife; I do not own a hot tub) ..... but Mevans could afford to have this type of thing installed; several installed.

I’d add the Budweiser in as well if I’m honest. Get the injuries sorted but also make them “tipsy”....... at corners, they see three balls coming in, ——-> treble the chance of scoring ?

Tractor Boys head physio, Hallamski Bluesarenko...... Ashfords hot tub idea? Would this work?

I recall watching Town v Everton at PR in the mid 1960's when their keeper, Gordon West, trod his cigarette into the turf as he walked onto the pitch for the second half. Priceless.

O’Neil has made a statement regarding Towns injuries.

Now I posted my concerns on TWTD last week. Stating point by point areas of concern , and bless him if I didn’t know better he’s answered every single point of concern I’d made . The Club says they never read posts on twtd forum. But his response practically paraphrases every single point I made in my post . I’m glad they are still actively looking into the problem.

Having said that despite the Club’s investigations and efforts to our injuries , they are no nearer to understanding the causes of our injuries . I still maintain it is not down to coincidence or bad luck . It’s been going on for too long now ...

Anyway here’s his response :

The manager job is to problem solve. Future and present issues.

Injuries will happen but injuries to several key players at the same time, that is mismanagement.

The way you problem solve the balance between:

- attack/defence balance
- player training/match load
- overall tactical setup

And I truly believe that a manager must focus on overall tactical makeup - which determines how much loading individuals and team need to do (ie low block, mid block, right side, high defensive line, relative movement of team to a tired individual etc)

The first one really depends on the weaknesses and strengths of the squad and the second is just down to processing information between departments.

The obvious problem that EVERY team had at the end of previous season was to manage Covid. It was obvious that players would have an intense schedule and it must be managed.

20% more games in a specific period compared to last year, then we need to rotate the squad 20-40% more to manage, as whichever team mismanages injuries they will drop down the table. Injury management is the biggest points gainer, as you don’t lose points and consistency of tactics. Hence less extra training.

Nice to see you posting again Wilnisfan. You and I both joined in 2006 (however I was "611-4-ITFC" for a number of years).

Fabian was a real fans favourite, oh for a player of his calibre and commitment now. Once met him coming back on the Harwich -Hook of Holland ferry, came across as a really genuine guy, happily signing an autograph for my nephew.

Anyway, welcome back.

One heartening bit of news is that Tristan Nydam has returned from injury for the 23’s.

https://www.twtd.co.uk/ipswich-town-ne ... s-host-qpr

Good to see him back playing - he’s had a horrific injury.

Jackson and Nolan also in the 23’s.

“That’s Fabian Wilnis, mate.”
“He’s fkn Shyte eh?”

The look on the guys face was a picture
