Ok 2021, so this is how it is going to be is it?
Had typed out a lengthy verdict on players who i would like to see stay or go, be sold etc, only for me to submit and realise there was no internet. The result being all my efforts disappeared! Some might say a blessing in disguise, as you are spared my old waffle!
Shorter version.
Out- Skuse, Judge, Sears, Huws, Folami, Cotter, Donacien.
P.a.y.p contract for Ward
Short new contract for Chambers
Sell- Downes.
Not named in 20 man squad but loaned out: Wright, Ndaba, Nydam.
Happy to expand on my reasons but didn't want to type another essay out!

"Town aren’t going to be able to offer new signings more than the League One average of £2,404 a week. Convincing a player that they should come to League One and play regularly rather than sit on the bench in the Championship will now be much harder given what will now be a vast difference in wages on the table between the second and third tiers. "

I have long argued that we shouldn't have a club salary cap, but instead an individual player cap, which can be topped up by appearance money - so it could be beneficial to play at a lower level than sit on the bench at a higher level. It also reduce the wage bill when regular starters are out injured.

The other advantage of such a system s that wealthier clubs might not be able to pay higher wages, but could have a larger squad. At present there is no advantage whatsoever in being wealthier. If the current system is so good, why isn't applied to the prem?

Some really good points there .

For Town it’s one hell of a watershed summer looming up I think. I think the Club already know ( for once) what they’re going to do . In many ways it’s a golden opportunity to offload a hell of a lot of dead ( expensive) wood from the squad . It’s been a long time coming tbh .

It’s a risk getting rid of your more experienced players ( who are naturally the most expensive), and running with largely young players, some with little experience. But that the order of things isn’t it . THIS season is absolutely crucial to this Club in what pathway they decide to take .

Sadly, I’m not putting my house on Championship football at ITFC next season.

If we’re still in League One then we obviously lose our advantage of having one of the bigger budgets. And then it’s a case of being shrewd and getting the best out of what we’ve got. And we’re not very good at that. If we can hang on to the young players then that’s great, but we’ll need a few extra older heads. Ideally, a couple of good players in their prime but then again where would they come from if you could only offer them 2500 quid per week. Might have to source them from L2 where L1 is a step up for them, but that’s a risk.

It should be obvious who needs to go, but I’m worried we’ll hang on to a Skuse, Huws, Judge or a Sears because we lose our better players and we need to keep some kind of squad together. We seem to have plenty of young players who aren’t quite there and too many older ones who are past their best - and not many in their prime ( and who are fit).

It’s simple - We really need to get promoted this season .
