Baggott turns down a professional deal with Town and Leeds and West Ham are looking at him, I thought how good he looked but it's looks like we will lose out again on a good prospect.

Another fine example how we can't just rely on our academy to pull us out of trouble.

One more nail in Mr Evans' naive 3 year 'invest in youth and build for the future' plan.

This lad is gonna be an excellent player too. There really needs to be a bloody rule change when kids are brought through the system like this.

TWTD understands that central defender Elkan Baggott has not turned down a contract from Town and is currently considering their offer of professional terms.

Earlier, it was reported that the 18-year-old had rebuffed the Blues’ offer of a contract alerting Premier League Leeds and West Ham to his potential availability.

However, we understand that the Indonesia U19 international has asked for time to consider the offer over the next few months but has not made any decision on the deal. Town are understood to be confident a contract will ultimately be signed.

Baggott is currently a second-year scholar but with the agreement for a third year with the academy already in place.

The Thailand-born defender made his first-team debut in the Papa John’s Trophy tie at home to Gillingham earlier this season and travelled with the senior squad for the League One fixture at Plymouth last month.

Baggott has been one of the top performers for the Blues' U18s who have reached the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup this season.

Leeds and West Ham are said to be among them but, contrary to national reports linking the two sides with Baggott, the teenager is not thought to have turned down a contract offer and discussions are ongoing.

The Blues are understood to remain confident a deal will be done, with Baggott and his representatives currently considering the contract offer from the club.

The 6ft 4inch defender, who has a background in athletics, is currently is currently a second-year scholar at the club’s academy and remains tied with the Blues for a further season beyond this one.

As well as taking his first steps with the first-team, Baggott has been a key part of the Town Under 18 side which has reached round four of the FA Youth Cup.

Maybe we still have some hope of keeping him.
