Re: Ashton speaks
I like the guy, all this Chinese whispers crap about him at previous clubs means nothing to me, I judge people for myself and what he does here.

Re: Ashton speaks
It's not Chinese whispers, it's people from previous clubs screaming from the rooftops.
I think he's of very questionable character, but at this point I don't care so long as does a decent job, and at the moment it appears he's done alright, though you could argue his initial plans and manager has failed, so surely he shouldn't be immune to criticism.
Other point is many people were won over by Evans' political scripted question and answer snake oil sessions, so maybe a dash of scepticism should be applied.

Re: Ashton speaks
I'm still impressed with the guy, to be honest. He answered the questions clearly and concisely. I thought his explanations were fair and coherent. I feel completely comfortable with Ashton's role at our football club. Will he get everything right?...probably not, but he'll do his very best for ITFC I believe. I genuinely think he's an extremely important piece to the puzzle of bringing back success.
Now we all anxiously await for the decsision. This will be the first appointment under our new ownership and backroom staff. Let's see who they pick!

Re: Ashton speaks
Really? You think Evans would jeopardise the sale of a football club by bringing in a manager without at least the blessing of the purchasing party? And if not, without installing a clause so the purchasing party could remove the manager without monstrous compensation. I mean, I think Evans is pretty thick, but surely not to that level.
If Ashton didn't rate Cook, then he would also be pretty bonkers to sack a squad of players and bring in Cooks recommendations.
I don't understand in this world why the buck stops at the levels it does. Ashton is judged by results as much as anyone should be and so far he's 0-1

Having read some of those reports, I quite agree that isn't Chinese whispers & I have concerns about Ashton.Ricco wrote: ↑Mon Dec 06, 2021 7:06 pmIt's not Chinese whispers, it's people from previous clubs screaming from the rooftops.

What I would like to know is what is the dividing line between the CEO & Manager. Are we going to get a proper Manager or Ashton & a Chief Coach?

Re: Ashton speaks
You guys carry on having issues with Ashton, the only bloke who's done anything positive here for years. He had nothing to do with the removal of Cook either by the way.

Correct. The board had a meeting and decided his time was up. Not Ashton's sole decision, what has he done wrong? Just don't get it.

Re: Ashton speaks
I’m not so sure about that Mike. I base that purely on something he said almost at the end of his interview today where he said they had a board meeting and “ they all agreed with me, that a change must happen” …. It certainly made my ears pr*ck up .

I can't be bothered to listen to it again, but I'm pretty sure that's how I heard it too. Like you, it registered.hallamblue wrote: ↑Mon Dec 06, 2021 10:37 pmI’m not so sure about that Mike. Re: Ashton speaks
I’ve listened to it again and read the transcript , and I think I’ve mis heard and mis interpreted his words tbh .,.
He actually said , “ having spoken to the board again today, they are unanimous with me that it is time to make a change and that’s what we have done….”
