Sheffield Wednesday are set to win the race to sign Preston North End centre-back Jordan Storey on loan until the end of the season, according to Sky Sports transfer centre (18/01, 23:09).

The Owls have made a slow start to the January window but it seems that with 12 days left of January, Darren Moore is finally about to strengthen his squad.

Wednesday, Ipswich Town, and Sunderland were all linked with a move for the 24-year-old but the Yorkshire club are now set to win the race for him.

As per Sky Sports transfer centre (18/01, 23:09), Storey was at Hillsborough yesterday to finalise the deal and is now set to join Moore’s squad until the end of the 2021/22 campaign.

The defender has made 98 appearances for Preston in the three and a half seasons since he joined the club from Exeter City and was a regular fixture this term ahead of the arrival of Ryan Lowe.

Since Lowe took charge in December, Sepp van den Berg has been shifted to right centre-back meaning Storey has looked excess to requirements.

He probably doesn’t fancy a move so far south from his home ? Or maybe he’s more likely to get game time at SWFC?

Bloody Ashton. Useless sod. Can’t get the Walton deal over the line and misses out on a CB. Probably trimming his beard as we speak.

Fantastic, there are a few players here who can hopefully go through the levels with the club and he is one.

Even if he doesn’t stay forever it’s hopefully possible to get a decent fee in the future so that isn’t a bad thing of it came to it.

Thank god for that…. 👍🥳🥳🥂…blimey how good does that feel to have a quality GK on the books permanently!

And it looks like we were never in for the PNE defender….

“Meanwhile, we understand Town had no interest in signing Preston central defender Jordan Storey, who has joined Sheffield Wednesday on loan, contrary to reports earlier in the week.”

So I wonder who we are targeting then ?

As you say Hallam, never in for the Preston guy.

Shame on you Tang for doubting King Ashton.

About time. He’s losing his touch. Should have had five signings by now.

Great news……. And if Hanky is still at the club, thats a very decent 1 & 2 for keeper position. Definitely rate Václav Hladký, …… as has been said before, they dont just turn sh*t overnight.

Stoked about Walton, that shows real intent on our part. I guess Holy is surplus to requirements now. Better get rid and bring through a young no.3.

Surely this has got to be a load of tosh, we have enough in midfield, yeah albeit some dubious quality......

Looks like we’re signing a Bristol midfielder on loan .

So I suspect we are shifting one out ?

Make that a few. We’re absolutely stacked in midfield. Doesn’t add up if true.

I've said for some time its our Midfield as much as our defence that is at fault for losing games so no surprise to me McKenna wants to bolster an area that we seem well stocked in, the problem isn't numbers, its the fact we lack much quality.

Agreed. And it’s been going on for years. Never short on numbers….. just the quality. But is this lad going to add quality? We thought the same with Harper.

Fraser looks obvious one to move on as I think he still has status and value - he just doesn’t fit here. We could settle up Nolan’s contract. El Miz and Harper loans out? Got to be movement out for our midfielders. I just hope Morsy is happy enough here and we haven’t received any offers for him. He dropped down to be in a promotion push and that just hasn’t happened.

No idea if this lad brings the quality we require as I know absolutely zilch about him tbh. I would not be sad to see any of those you mention move on, Fraser & Harper have largely disappointed while Nolan is without question finished. El Mizouni is one I thought may be decent but so far little evidence of it and Tom Carroll is another nothing player for me who is just bang average.

Morsy is crucial to us and I hope to god he is going nowhere anytime soon, Evans flatters to deceive but again I can't see him going anywhere either.

Probably what McKenna was referring to when he said Player “profile”….a polite way of saying we don’t have the necessary quality in the building.

So many of those players mentioned simply don’t play do they, so why the hell pay to keep them on the books ?

Nolan
Harper
Carroll
Fraser
El Mizouni
