Re: Morsy charged with violent conduct
Unfortunately his track record won’t help his case, in fact quite the opposite even tho in my opinion his action looked minor compared to how the AS player reacted as if he’d been pole axed.

Re: Morsy charged with violent conduct
It's understood that Ipswich are currently putting together an appeal. If Morsy is found guilty then his suspension, for a minimum of three games, would come into play immediately, meaning he would be unavailable for tomorrow night's League One game at AFC Wimbledon.
An FA statement reads: "Ipswich Town FC's Sam Morsy has been charged with a breach of FA Rule E1.1 following their EFL League One match against Accrington Stanley FC on Saturday (22/01/2022). The midfielder's behaviour during the 27th minute was not seen by the match officials, but it was caught on camera, and allegedly constitutes violent conduct. Sam Morsy has until tomorrow (25/01/2022) to provide a response."

Re: Morsy charged with violent conduct
Perhaps the Powers that be will also look at the Accrington player that went in on Walton then. That was a fluke / dangerous play !
If Morsy missed games I suggest that’ll be any thin hope of making the play offs , gone !

Re: Morsy charged with violent conduct
To be honest if the ref or assistant had seen the incident most likely both players would have had a stern talking to from the referee or at worst case a yellow card. In my opinion retrospective punishment shouldn’t be more severe than it would have been had the referee seen it and this should be the grounds of the appeal.

Re: Morsy charged with violent conduct
Seen the video and even though he is a Town player thats a ban, minimum 3 games and a fine maybe.
Cannot contest that, punch/elbow, bound to happen sooner or later with his track record.
And Ashfordblue, even though I agree with you that he could play the 'racism' card that opens up another load of trouble, and the language your using is not appreciated, especially in this day and age mate.

Is there any evidence we’re treated unfairly Liz or does it just feel that way ?

To avoid opening up a racism argument or anyone being offended by the language used I’ve deleted your post Ash.

I’m sure the offensive word wasn’t too difficult to work out Ash.
What we thought was Comedy in the late 60’s is no longer acceptable especially on social media.

Re: Morsy charged with violent conduct
The video does look pretty incriminating and whilst sometimes the reality on the pitch in physical terms is different to how it looks, it will be hard to persuade the jury of that. Out for 3 games then, does it get extended if he loses the appeal?
Will be interesting to see how we do without him and who can step up in his place........

I think it's extended to Four games if the appeal is lost.

Re: Morsy charged with violent conduct
viewed highlights twice again and couldn't find the damn incident. Maybe they omitted the thing from broadcast but sure it wasn't there.
Saw original tape at the weekend but don't remember much from it, recall seemed somewhat innocuous, didn't give it much afterthought but seem to be wrong. At first glance thought the thread title implied one of our players had been guilty of affray on the street, only then realized it pertained to action on a 'football' field.

4 game ban with immediate effect. No appeal allowed.
Well I’d like to know who was on the panel and what their decision was based on. Based on the footage it’s not 100% clear. Guilty until proven innocent with these FA hearings.

Four game ban no doubt because we contested it !!
Was Morsy even looking at the AS player ? ( who pushed with a raised arm to Morsy FIRST.

Re: Morsy charged with violent conduct
Well this guy is fairly reasonable poster on twtd and I think he’s right tbh
its a disgrace.
4 matches I could handle if unprovoked he clearly thows a punch.
However two things:
1) it's far from clear it's a punch, and left no sign of any injury of the player (unlike edmundson) which probably indicates it was more of a shove. Nothing clear and obvious either way. You don't tend to throw a punch on the move but more shove or handoff as i think Morsy is doing here. It's a yellow card offence.
2) Their player actually puts his arm out first and Morsy responds to that as basically trying to get him out of the way.
FA is not fit for purpose. Absolute disgrace of a decision.
Me again ….
Either way that ban has cost us the thin hopes we had of reaching the play offs

Re: Morsy charged with violent conduct
Yes, he’s a massive loss but the ban shouldn’t be the reason it ends our chances as we signed 19 players in the summer. It’s our fault if we’re reliant on just ONE player we signed an hour before deadline day.hallamblue wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 6:55 pmWell this guy is fairly reasonable poster on twtd and I think he’s right tbh

We signed Evans, Harper, Fraser, Carroll and now Bakinson. All midfielders. It’s up to our squad to deal with it. Can’t see a ready-made replacement for Morsy amongst those, but that’s our fault with the recruitment and someone’s got to step up.

Re: Morsy charged with violent conduct
I agree but if those listed Fraser hasn’t really played, Harper hasn’t played , Carroll hasn’t played since Sept (other than Saturday), and Evans is injured . I’d say we’re stuffed .
I suspect it’ll be Carroll and Bakinson tonight or maybe Chaplin ? But we need a physical presence … so that could be Harper lol … who’d be a manager

Re: Morsy charged with violent conduct
I think he was handing him off tbh . I didn’t see a clenched fist aka “ punch”. Both players seemed to be at arms length which is a bit difficult to deliver a punch when you’re moving at a right angle and away from your opponent .tangfastic wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 6:59 pmI saw an arm shoot out. Was it a clenched fist, slap or hand-off against someone who’d put their hands up first? Not sure myself. The verdict not surprising though and Morsy’s history doesn’t help.
That FA panel must have made up of the AS board of directors - bunch of prats!

Re: Morsy charged with violent conduct
If it was as violent as everyone seems to be agreeing it was, Morsy should be fined one months wages as it was so unnecessary. I would also question his suitability as a Captain because his leadership qualities are sh*te.

What the hell has that got to do with anything, ridiculous comparison, a mistimed or poor tackle against a clear punch, yep great reasoningtangfastic wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 8:05 pmAnd to think you excused Toto every week as he scythed down players every week giving away penalties.
