I wish Dyer well too but I think it is sour grapes. There are some who think they are bigger than the club and they are not. McKenna certainly doesn't act in that manner and he is 5 years or more his junior but seems so much more mature in his outlook. Dyer lets his heart rule his head which is a great personal trait but a poor managerial one. That is why he will never be a great manager in my opinion. I hope he proves me wrong but I think that, as Mick Mills said yesterday, he now has to go and do it all again somewhere else - where he is not a legend or even a memory so it all has to cone down to his managerial/coaching talent - lets hope he has some as it is as yet unproven....

Stuart Watson tweeted this yesterday during the game.

Kieron Dyer sat a few rows in front of the press box. He's wearing an away shirt with 'Humphreys 30' printed on the back

Even if its a bit tongue in cheek, still a bit silly. His decision to move on.... so he should move on.
It makes him a childish tit tbh, glad he's gone.

To be honest Mike it’s nothing more than him thinking he’s better than he is and being pissed off. If you think about it he had a successful playing career, played in the Premier League, played for his Country winning 33 caps making the squad for one World Cup and two Euro Championships. He applies for the Manager's job at his home town club where he believes he’s a legend and didn’t even get an interview. Another Kieron a few years his junior with little playing experience gets the job and becomes his boss and he can’t accept it. Even worse he can’t understand why.

The guys an idiot, has a history of making poor judgements and will probably continue doing so. Fortunately he’s a millionaire many times over so doesn’t have to rely on making a living having just thrown away one of the best opportunities he’ll ever get working at the club he loves, close to home and even more important within 90 mins of Addenbrookes Hospital.

That is is spot on. Very true words in my opinion

Mick Mills almost word for word said same thing. I have a sneaky feeling though KM will speak to him, I believe he's hinted as much but at the moment it seems to my Dyer has bitten his own nose off and can't see the bigger picture here. I do actually feel there is a decent coach in him. However this scenario shows he is light years behind KM in all aspects of coaching and mongering. Do wish KD well for his health and his future

My tuppence ha’penny worth. Could just be a mortality anger that is happening with Kieron Dyer at the moment. Making wrong “media” choices due to imminent health dealings about to be embarked on with the possibility of death. I mean the surgeon did say that it’ll be a 10 hour op and that he knows what he’s doing BUT, (huge but) that surgeon will also have told him that he could die during surgery. That’ll be sitting right there in the foreground of his thoughts and there will be an anger. The world is against him type scenario.

Sort of dealing with this myself at the moment with my son. The happiest most laid back 27 year old in Scotland is just a tad angry at the moment and speaking with people who can help.

I hope Kieron gets the new liver successfully and goes on to be a phenomenal manager. As we all do. 👍

Yes, that is good context, Marko and I feel for you. Hope all goes well for you and your family. You never know how you will react until you or someone close to you has to face a stark reality. 🤞 for a good outcome for you.

A think that is a little harsh Charnwood. He is clearly not management material and lacks the self awareness to see it. To that extent you are right. However, I watched the whole interview and he made it clear he is deeply impressed by McKenna, that seeing McKenna at work showed him how much he has yet to learn and is a huge admirer of what McKenna has done so far. My sense was he had a bigger problem with Ashton and his perception of the direction of the club under the new owners.

On reflection MF my comments probably are a little harsh but I did make it clear earlier in the thread that I reached my conclusion without getting to the end of the interview. I just think the timing and manner of his departure was inappropriate, but as Marko has illustrated maybe other factors contributed to this.

On K D's Liver transplant, evidently, if you want a Liver a bit quick I know for certain that China has loads of spare parts for transplanting, I think its location is Wuhan district, it is very well documented in the Asian world media that China specializes in taking live patient body parts, I'm sure they could buy a Liver and get it shipped over in an icebox container.

But I agree it was a very interesting interview about his Under 23 squad players, WTF do you run an under 18's, 21's, and 23's if their not going to get into the 1st team selection, as Sir Bobby did and we was very successful in every tournament, so we might as well do away with all youth squads and just employ loans as and when we want them, very similar to Brentford FC.

Any hope Dyer had of being manager of the club has gone from slim to zero now McKenna has fitted in and made such an encouraging start. Maybe - maybe - one day in the future his wish could be a reality but even then can't see it ever coming to pass.

Wonder sometimes if ever regrets taking off for Newcastle in '99 and missing out on the splendid couple of years we had with George Burley thereafter but he made a decision at the time. In retrospect we lost out on the play-offs that year and Dyer viewed a step up and took the opportunity to play at the highest level. I can't quite fault him for it, maybe a very select few of the fanbase resented him for it but it were a long time back.

Above all else he's enduring some health issues right now which should be the primary focus. Not overly worried he's no longer training the youth section of the club, as others have alluded to some of his behavior in recent time appears to be questionable.
