Re: Rumors' & Transfers - Summer 2022
As Gary rightly says, it depends on your definition of “ the future “. We need a mixture of experience, mid 20’s and youth (they have no fear and usually are full of running).
I’d suggest Morsy is in his prime ( forget the number attached to his birthday ) . He drives this team firearms, demands s response and gets stuck in . Bakinson by comparison doesn’t , and not does El mizouni . You have to experience in the spine of the team . 2-3 years time and hopefully in championship, Morsy will have done his job for us ….

Re: Rumors' & Transfers - Summer 2022
I’m sure the new regime at the Club are working on a many pronged approach to the squad (s) , meaning U23 and senior . Unlike Evans ( year plan on the back of a fag packet, I’d suspect Ashton / McKenna really do have a much more rigorous 5 and possibly 10 year play . It’ll have a multi faceted approach from the several layers of experience that now makes up our “ backroom staff”, and all the evidence /data base resources. Blimey were even applying for planning permission to put up further camera towers at the training ground so McKenna can view the shape of the team from an areal perspective . This is light years ahead of where we were just 12 months ago. Amazing re development isn’t it ! So with regards to the playing staff , I’d think this is well in hand . Never felt more confident about the club now tbh !

I completely agree he is a good player. All I'm saying is personally i don't think he is indispensable if he ended up moving on as per the rumours or that he needs locking in on more than his current £500k salary.
If he is indispensable, then that needs fixing sharpish as he is no spring chicken and we shouldn't be in that situation regardless of age (let alone his age!).
He is also not captain material to me and I don't see him (and I may be wrong, we'll see) as someone with particular loyalty to our club unlike captains of the past.
To me, there is absolutely no merit whatsoever in that comment.
Forget loyalty - it hasn't existed for years in a world where everybody is looking out for themselves. This is not just in football, but in all walks of life. I bet that if you worked for somebody for a few years and then another company offered you a higher position job that paid considerably more money then you would be off like a shot, as indeed most of us would. Football is no different - people in all walks of life have ambition.
As for your comparison of past and present captains - I assume you are thinking of Chambers (who was about as loyal as is possible) to Morsey (who you consider to be not so loyal). Well, I know which one I would rather have as captain.

Re: Rumors' & Transfers - Summer 2022
You’re not wrong there Mike, I’d just like to see him improve his self discipline, one to set an example to those around him, and two to avoid unnecessary suspensions which we could do without. He should be able to achieve this without any loss of competitiveness.

Cauley Woodrow ? Hardly inspiring, not a player I've ever rated, doesn't score loads of goals and out injured last Four months. Hopefully just paper talk.

I don’t know a lot about him but Barnsley fans in general don’t really want him to go, especially to a L1 rival.

Is he better than what we had up front last season? Quite possibly he is. He’s quite a skilled player I believe. Perhaps McK sees him bringing the best of Chaplin, Aluko and Celina..

That thread is hardly praiseworthy of him though, some do seem to think he could perform in the Championship but I'm dubious personally

Re: Rumors' & Transfers - Summer 2022
I guess the question is could he score 20+ for us in league one next year. I’m reading he’s a player who has had a poor season last time in a relegated side but can score goals. He’s 27 and maybe already has an understanding with Conor from Barnsley. I’ve never seen him play but if McK is really interested (which of course he might not be) it might be promising

Re: Rumors' & Transfers - Summer 2022
Boom that was even earlier than last season first signing!
Rotherham fans have said he is technically good, comes alive in the box but questioned his work rate for the way they play. Might work for us as we have more possession.
Let’s see and trust in the management. 6ft 2 so fairly tall too. Probably has some pace and no transfer fee - unsure what his wages would be like.

Reminds me a bit of the Aluko signing, very few of us were over excited and most felt underwhelmed, we were wrong, hopefully this will be similar

Re: Rumors' & Transfers - Summer 2022
I’m surprised he didn’t fancy having a go in the Championship especially given he was Rotherham’s 2nd best goal scorer last season albeit with only 12 goals the same as Macauley Bonne for Town.

Atay Resigns from the under 18s which is a pity after being at Town for 17 years he must have had a good offer from another club.

Re: Rumors' & Transfers - Summer 2022
Sounds like some added grit for the midfield!
Found this reply which might be a good insight.
QPR fan here.
I think Ball will be a great signing for you guys and one you can still depend on in the Championship (assuming you finally get promoted of course lol). I'd say his level is as one of those top league 1 players/lower championship standard kind of guys.
He was very popular at QPR due to the fact he gave his all every single game and never gave up. He's fairly limited on what he can do on the ball, infact he dribbles a bit like a toddler learning to walk but there's a certain level of grace(?) to it in that sometimes he'll dribble passed one or two players, much to the crowd's amusement as its so unexpected for a player like Ball.
He's a tough tackling ball winning midfielder who you'll find is always there as an outlet for a pass whenever a player is being jostled for the ball, however he'll mainly just pass the ball off to someone else more technically gifted.
He's never gunna rip up any trees or anything like that but I always appreciated that he knew his strengths and most importantly his limitations in the game. His positioning is pretty good too although sometimes he'll switch off, especially if his team is dominating possession a bit lol.
All in all though I don't have any bad words to say of him. He was a very useful squad player who I'd personally have kept on and feel a bit like he was hard done by with us after January when he barely played.
He'll do a very good job for you guys thats for sure!
Side note about Andre Dozzell; He didn't play loads last season but pretty much still plays how most of you guys here said he does, good vision and when he's feeling confident he can impact games but most of the time its sideways or backwards passes. Its strange though as I do see a good player in there. Wish he'd get a new haircut though, lad looks like his mum still cuts his hair!

I like the look of this Ball signing, we needed back up for Morsy and now we have it, it will also allow Morsy to get forward more which he does very well. Pleased with this one.

Re: Rumors' & Transfers - Summer 2022
New boy sounds promising, bit of steel in midfield to assist if Morsy if not available or in partnership.
Was just thinking with us getting 2 players in on a free is the money saved going towards players wages or are we planning on a couple of slightly higher level players where a fee is involved? For example is Bersant going to return?

Re: Rumors' & Transfers - Summer 2022
Totally agree - I think this could be a v good signing, having two big hard midfielders in this league could be very important. Also he adds height and so does Ladpo so if we can get someone with set piece delivery then we have some tall lads to get on the end of them.

Re: Rumors' & Transfers - Summer 2022
Could we have a midfield trio of Evans, Ball , Morsy ? Does that work with Morsy playing further forward?
QPR fans very complimentary about Dom Ball

Liking Ball's interview, came across really well and very level headed, the squad reshape is well under way and not a penny spent thus far. Saving the money for Celina maybe.
