Re: Rumors' & Transfers - Summer 2022
Not sure tbh .
We’ve lost Norwood. He picked a fight with anyone willing, but didn’t score much, and have brought in Lapado who has an excellent record in League One.
We’ve lost Bonne. He was effective at putting the ball in the net for the first 20 games ( if that ), then couldn’t hit a barn door from 2 inches . We’ve brought in JJ . Who, granted is a young player . But OMG him and Jackson are going to scare the shyte out of defences at this level.
We still have Chaplin and Aluko.
We’ve finally sorted the left side of the team. Thus should take the pressure off Burns.
I think we just need another striker (#9)
I’d say ….” The futures Bright”…
…………….,,” The futures Blue n White “

Norwood scored a goal for every 180 mins he played on the pitch. That's decent.hallamblue wrote: ↑Fri Aug 05, 2022 8:14 pmNot sure tbh .

I'd have kept him.

Re: Rumors' & Transfers - Summer 2022
Just my feeling of who's coming in vs who's leaving Mike. Part of it will be because I don't know of the players coming in and none excite me, but sure, that does not mean they're not great signings, just I remain to be reassured.
My main worry is we only had 5 players score more than 3 goals last season and 3 of them have left, that would be 4 out of 5 if Chaplin were to leave. As flawed as they were for various reasons, Celina, Bonne and Norwood scored important goals and as far as I can tell, we do not have satisfactory replacement for them, as might have shown today with dominance, yet a tight scoreline. Ladapo might be decent, I don't know, but on paper he's a player who's had 745 different clubs and one decent season (which was 4 years ago), and he spat his dummy out at his last club. It doesn't make me sing 'WE'RE GOING UP'!

Re: Rumors' & Transfers - Summer 2022
Well if its any help I saw a post on twtd yesterday of a tweet that’s says “ Hirst bid accepted, coybs “. Time will tell. It is very early days snd I suppose to expect near perfect performances from all the players after just 2 games, is a big ask. This squad hopefully can only improve .

Re: Rumors' & Transfers - Summer 2022
Very solid defender in his day, ok as cover I guess.
Town are close to signing veteran centre-half Richard Keogh from Blackpool.
We understand the deal to sign the 36-year-old, who will come into the squad as experienced cover, is not yet done but isn’t far away from completion. The former Republic of Ireland international will sign a two-year contract.
Essex-born Keogh was at Playford Road as an academy player and was a ballboy before being released and moving on to Stoke City’s youth set-up

Quite surprised, it''ll be another senior slot in the squad and a 2 year deal for a 36 year old who will be 6th choice CB? (not including Ball and Leigh who can also play CB).

Re: Rumors' & Transfers - Summer 2022
cannot see reasoning behind this, we need a goalscorer not an old backup defender surely.
Looking forward to hearing KM's pov on this if it happens.

If there is any foundation behind this, could one of our CB be on his way out of PR?Bluemike wrote: ↑Tue Aug 09, 2022 11:41 amVery solid defender in his day, ok as cover I guess.

Cannot see the need otherwise!......mind you I felt the same when we signed Aluko, so what do I know!

Re: Rumors' & Transfers - Summer 2022
He was very good at Derby for quite a few years. If memory serves, he was injured in a car crash about three years ago.
I would be nervous that he has never really recovered from that. A risky signing, if it happens.

KM is at the wheel, not Keogh, no car crashes this season MF.

Has played for MK Dons, Huddersfield and Blackpool since leaving Derby so it looks like he has recovered from that incident. Think he made something like 27 appearances for Blackpool in the Championship last season and a lot of their fans feel he did a good job.MasseyFerguson wrote: ↑Tue Aug 09, 2022 2:03 pmHe was very good at Derby for quite a few years. The only thing that surprises me a bit is the offer of a 2 year contract as he will be 36 on Thursday.

Re: Rumors' & Transfers - Summer 2022
You could ask why sign a 36 yo as cover and deny our younger CB a chance, but I guess he'll be shipped out on loan regardless.
Not the striker I was hoping for, but I guess it makes sense to have cover at CB when you normally play 3 at the back. That said, it might not just be cover - if he is fit I'd play him ahead of Burgess and Edmundson every time.

Re: Rumors' & Transfers - Summer 2022
I think it’s a good addition tbh. Ndaba would only be likely at this time to get one or two but part appearances I think. But he needs another full season of games on a weekly basis, to harden him off in regular senior football, then next season I think he’ll be more ready to challenge. Bringing Keogh is very astute I feel, because it will bring a lot of experience in amongst the established defenders, but many of which are actually quite young. Keogh won’t be week in week out obviously, but it’s what he’ll bring in behind the scenes. He’s actually here, as someone has just posted a pic of him going into a hotel on the waterfront. So guess he’s signed up already.

Re: Rumors' & Transfers - Summer 2022
The Blackpool fan I know messaged me….
Also I think Ipswich are signing Richard Keogh from Blackpool today and I think you and all Ipwich players , Staff and supporters will be delighted as he is a top player and was extremely popular with everyone and particularly supporters at Pool. He will definitely improve your chances of promotion....he is Mr Consistency and has all the attributes of a top defender. He is at the end of his career and lacking pace....but copes brilliantly. Hope you get him and sure you will benefit greatly having him in your squad.
I questioned it to him and he said
Keogh was an International and an excellent organiser in defence. He will be a fantastic cover for your starting 3 at the back.He can play any of the three positions and is excellent at bringing the ball out . Your Manager obviously knows this and realises he needs reliable cover for the three.
I hope and expect Ipswich to finish in the top 2 positions and I have no doubt Keogh will have played an important part. You need a good squad to gain promotion and Keogh has breezed it in the Championship and shouldn't have problems in Div 1. He will also improve all your defender's as he has at Pool. He will probably finish up coaching/ management .
Naturally he doesn’t know anything about our existing defence. I’m still confused but maybe he is coming for experience and just for cover.

Reminiscent of that Ward fella a couple of seasons ago. That didn't go well.

Deal confirmed, I think it's a good signing if the need is for Ndaba to head out on loan, bags of experience and very solid. Now the striker please.

Re: Rumors' & Transfers - Summer 2022
I think the striker is the most important. J-J had a chance last night to prove he might just be the man but wasn’t able to. We maybe better to take anr loanee if the numbers allow rather than spend a load of money on another player who simply doesn’t crack in.

I have no problem with Keogh coming in with all his experience but I am wondering who will lose out I'm assuming Wolfie or Edmundson, hopefully the other defenders will learn from him.

Re: Rumors' & Transfers - Summer 2022
2019 Keogh was, by a distance, a better back than anyone we have at the moment. The issue for me is whether, at his age and due to the injuries he suffered in the car crash three years ago, he is a shadow of what he was. A Keogh who is anywhere near the 2019 version should be a fixture in the team evey week.

… but if we’d not conceded first last night they wouldn’t have parked the bus in front of goal and we’d most probably have won.mendipblue wrote: ↑Wed Aug 10, 2022 5:28 pmWe need someone who can put the ball in the net ffs not another defender.![]()

Re: Rumors' & Transfers - Summer 2022
It could be Donacian that drops out…. But then we’d lose that right side attacking threat . Him and Burns combine well.Kerry Blue wrote: ↑Wed Aug 10, 2022 1:47 pmI have no problem with Keogh coming in with all his experience but I am wondering who will lose out I'm assuming Wolfie or Edmundson, hopefully the other defenders will learn from him.
Or
It could be Edmundson. I don’t think he’s that great “ on the ball”, or brining it out of defence. So everything always goes through Woolfie …. Ball to Donacian …. Ball to Burns etc etc . All very predictable , and opponents have worked that out now snd work very hard to close that outlet down. Bolton did a very effective job on us as did Forest Green and then Col Ewe Tuesday night.
We definitely needed another defender in my view.
