I think the striker is the most important. J-J had a chance last night to prove he might just be the man but wasn’t able to. We maybe better to take anr loanee if the numbers allow rather than spend a load of money on another player who simply doesn’t crack in.

I have no problem with Keogh coming in with all his experience but I am wondering who will lose out I'm assuming Wolfie or Edmundson, hopefully the other defenders will learn from him.

Keogh Is here as back up so nobody should lose out providing they perform.

2019 Keogh was, by a distance, a better back than anyone we have at the moment. The issue for me is whether, at his age and due to the injuries he suffered in the car crash three years ago, he is a shadow of what he was. A Keogh who is anywhere near the 2019 version should be a fixture in the team evey week.

… but if we’d not conceded first last night they wouldn’t have parked the bus in front of goal and we’d most probably have won. 🤔…. But yes I agree, we do need an additional striker who finds it less difficult to put the ball in the back of the net.

It could be Donacian that drops out…. But then we’d lose that right side attacking threat . Him and Burns combine well.

Or

It could be Edmundson. I don’t think he’s that great “ on the ball”, or brining it out of defence. So everything always goes through Woolfie …. Ball to Donacian …. Ball to Burns etc etc . All very predictable , and opponents have worked that out now snd work very hard to close that outlet down. Bolton did a very effective job on us as did Forest Green and then Col Ewe Tuesday night.
We definitely needed another defender in my view.

What's the opinion based on the first few few games? Striker still needed, any other trouble areas?? Hard to spot issues when you keep winning...

Mike if the latest rumours going around that Leicester want 4 million for him I hope he is! Would be a ridiculous amount of money for a league one club to pay for a striker who has really just had one half decent goal scoring season on loan at Portsmouth.

Couldn't agree more, his record last season was actually no better than Ladapo's. The hype over Hirst has me a bit baffled tbh, of course he may just be the answer but I'm not praying we sign him over anyone else by any means.

See this ….

17:00 - Aug 14 by Vic

Le2blue, you need to share the source. Lots of questions, no answers. Or have you just made it up for a reaction? Unlike you, so please share the source.

So do we pay the £4m that the foxes want for George Hirst? on 18:35 - Aug 14 by le2blue

Was told about the overall fee from someone I know at Leicester on their staff and also an agent at KIN. Was also talking to an agent of one of our recent signings (hint the agent played for Man U) and he said that we’re pushing very hard but Leicester want a v big fee and sell on, not saying that is what we will end up paying but he’s going to be very expensive if we sign him. Lack of available strikers forcing up prices. Championship clubs are defo interested as well but they can’t compete with us on paying fees unless they sell. Hirst has understandably been holding out for a championship club but it’s getting closer to us.

Interesting that he’s been listed as no longer a Leicester player: https://www.lcfc.com/players/14283/George-Hirst/profile

Think he’d be an excellent signing, would complete our two for every position and Kieran would get the most out of him and likely increase his resell value.

My Wiki is showing Ipswich in red, think its someone wishful thinking as Blueballs states.

Tbh I do not think we will be bringing anyone else in, would rather see Ladapo start scoring. Maybe come January if the strikers fail to get going.

If Leicester are wanting 4 Million for him I would forget it, one he's not worth that and Two I very much doubt the rules would allow us to spend that amount anyway.

Well it's a risk isn't it, but at 23 it'll be based off his potential as much as anything. That's the difference to the likes of Ladapo at 29, with him you know what you get, but Hirst should continue to improve. If he has a great season or two, he could triple in value and then around £4m looks like a bargain, but it is a big if.

He's a tall chap, they take time to fill out and often peak later, such as with the likes of Murphy and Walters. From watching a bit, Hirst looks ok with both feet which is a bonus, but not a natural or great with either, that may improve. He looks great in the air, but it depends how we plan to play as to whether that would suit, but having that physical prescence when teams come to PR and put 11 men behind the ball may be a huge plus in turning some draws in to wins.

It looks like it will be up to Hirst as to what he wants to do, play most weeks for Town or possible a Championship side or stay at Leicester in the under 23s.

I think we'd be best just bloody forgetting about him, it's actually getting on my nerves, if he wanted to be here it would have happened by now but no, let's see what comes up first and if nothing better I'll trundle off to Ipswich, sorry but jog on.

Town target George Hirst is reportedly set to sign a new deal with current club Leicester City before being sent out on loan to a Championship club.

TWTD revealed in May that striker Hirst was being targeted by the Blues with discussions between the clubs having been ongoing throughout the summer.

Portsmouth were keen to take the 23-year-old on another loan, Hirst having spent 2021/22 at Fratton Park, while Championship sides believed to include Blackpool and Blackburn are also understood to be keen.

, the Portsmouth News is reporting that Hirst, who has a year left on his current deal, is to sign a new contract with the Foxes with the plan then that he is loaned to a Championship side for 2022/23.

However, TWTD understands Town remain interested in signing the former England U17s, U18s and U19s international on a permanent basis, but with other strikers also on their list of potential recruits prior to the September 1st

Good let's move on £2 million could be better spent IMO and I don't want him on loan.
